That was SO not worth the stress it gave me We were not asked to bring any documents.
Attorney took our ID's and handed them to the trustee. Asked us on record if that was our signature on the petition. Trustee said she was missing documents; attorney handed them to her along with proof that he had sent them over weeks ago. Trustee was satisfied with this.
Trustee asked:
name and address
did we read the petition
was it truthful and accurate
do we need to amend anything
has anything changed since we filed
are we keeping or surrendering the house, car, and timeshare
Is there anyone else on the timeshare
How many loans for the house and has the foreclosure happened yet
...and that was it!
An attorney for a credit union we had a credit card with was there. She wanted to know if we put any taxes or student loans on the card, yearly income, what caused the financial distress, and did we want to reaffirm the debt. DH and I argued over his yearly income (and the trustee found this funny) but I finally told her that I knew what it was monthly gross
We signed our reaffirmation for our vehicle while we were there; it is a credit union, and the letter said that it was bank policy to continue full services, including lending, to members that reaffirm their commitments in the same manner as they were eligible for before filing bankruptcy. That was surprising (in a good way!)
