My wife listed me as an authorized user for her credit card

She did this a while ago while I was still in my chapter 13, They sent me a card with my name on it and neither one of us really thought anything of it.

She just figured she would add me "just in case"

well, since then I've finished my chapter 13. I was just checking my credit report and see that card on there as current revolving credit. All the payments are made on time and as far as I can tell this is effecting my credit in a good way right?

I only ask because I was thinking about trying to get a credit card but only to help rebuild my credit. However if this card is already doing that I'm not even going to bother.

I'm also surprised that my trustee never said anything about this If it did in fact show up on my credit report as me opening up a credit card.

Yes and no. You are getting good payment history which is extremely important. But if she carries a high balance in comparison to her credit limit, it can hurt you a bit. Dont go closing it though, the latter is much easier to rectify than trying to get another new card. If you arent applying for credit, then dont worry about your ratios. When you get ready to apply for credit, plan to pay down those balances 60 ish days out to confirm they will report on your credit report.

Enjopy the benefits of an auth user.

(as an aside, a few years ago, they changed the rules in scoring with it came to auth users - removing the history from the score - my understanding is that this has since been changed back (there was a lot of this going on in the mortgage biz to get people qualified for loans they couldnt afford))

I'm not. Trustee's probably don't have time to review debtors' credit reports. We really aren't under a microscope like some fear. Besides, simply opening a new account is not incurring new debt.
