Maybe not for everyone, but wanted to share something I did to help boost my credit:
Throughout my entire BK13, I received mailings from FingerHut that I was pre approved for $250. I would laugh and throw them out. Who the hell buys from FH right? My colleagues would laugh at work because I would tell them how FH people were chasing me in my car trying to get me to accept their credit (obviously joking).
Anyway, I was looking for an exercise bike on line, and I was comparing prices. I found one at Dick's Sporting Goods . . but low and behold, when I searched for cheaper prices . . . FH popped up at almost $100 less for same model. So, I took it and used my good FH credit.
After 3 payments, they upped my credit limit from $250 to $700. Most of their things are a bit over priced, but if you use it wisely you can help your credit build up slowly.
THEY DO report to TransUnion!!!! I see them on my credit bureau.
After BK13, I have a credit score of almost 680. Certainly it is not all from FH, but it has helped for sure.
Just something to share.
