I have a capital one card with a $300 limit, orchard bank with a $300 limit and a first premiere platinum with a $700 limit. That's it for me until I can build up my credit enough to get a higher limit card, perhaps with chase or discover. My bank however turned me down, which is bank of America.

Credit Hell? We were discharged June 2010 and already we have a HSBS Platinum $750 limit, Orchard Bank $500 and Capital One $750 limit.

Oh yes, they are locked in the safe and for EMERGENCIES only. Emergency NOT meaning "I must have that LCD tv" meaning I cannot pay the rent this month or my dog needs expensive vet care. We are not going down that road ever again. I put Netflix on HSBC, our book club membership ($15) on the Orchard and nothing on Crap One. I guess I had better order something online for $20 and pay it off slowly so it reports to the creditr bureaus!

            Case went without a hitch!
I HELD MY HEAD HIGH IN THAT COURTROOM AND NOW I AM MOVING ON!

Credit cards should be used to build credit back to what it was before not as a savings account. Well at least that's what I keep telling myself! So I hope you've all setup a savings account just for that purpose. If you've got too many emergencies in a year how are you going to pay all that debt off? What if your credit limit doesn't cut it due to an expensive emergency?

I'm thinking of rebuilding my credit now that it's been a year since I filed a Chapter 7 ... I was just turned down by my local bank. The reason: "Bankruptcy and little credit experience .." Maybe I'll have better luck with Capital One.

I got approved for this same one, $500 unsecured credit limit, but has an Annual Fee. I guess $39 makes up for the 0% Intro APR ... I admit this still seems like the best post-bankruptcy credit card! Usually one is stuck with secured credit cards that have a monthly maintenance fee and / or a high amount of interest ... Great Forum!

Capital One is good about raising your limit if you pay on time and use the card a little bit too. You don't have to carry a balance to get your limit raised automatically, just use the card a little bit and then pay it off.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under

We are in the middle of our CH7, our 341 is next week. I am not in a huge hurry to run out and get another cc, but want to establish new trade lines (thanks bts) in order to start healing our credit report (can you tell I like to plan?). My question is if Capital One is included in our bankruptcy, how likely is it that they will approve us - perhaps after a bit of time? Maybe try another company first? Anyone have experience with this?

It took me about 7 months after discharge to get cap. one. But I did Other cards before that.

From what I read on this and other threads, I think different folks mileage may vary.

I discharged a 6K credit card and 30K LOC with CapitalOne. Their prequalifier tells me I should apply for three cards but I get denied - at least they say it's based on internal information at Capital One and they don't inflict hard inquiries on me. Dfferent people say they may or may not blacklist.

I started with a secured card at a Credit Union (Navy Federal), have added a USAA secured and a Best Buy Reward Zone MC.

Many people have success with Orchard Bank (owned by HSBC) but I also discharged an account (Best Buy actually) with HSBC and Orchard won't approve me.

Citibank (I discharged there as well) won't even give me a secured card. They took my application and cashed my check but then returned it.

I was discharged in August. Have been trying to get a credit card to rebuild credit, but the only luck I have had so far is I got approved for a Credit One card for $300 today (and that is pending). Capital One denied me because my income was insufficient, but they said to reapply in 45 days. I am seriously thinking about doing a recon.

Also, somehow a Victoria Secret store card I have slipped through the cracks during my BK.Not only is that tradeline still open, they increased my credit limit directly after I was discharged. I keep meaning to make a small purchase on it, but really have no need to. I'm afraid that due to my inactivity they will cancel it, but I really feel like I need it to show I have a positive tradeline.

I don't have the extra cash to put money into a secured card so I have tried Hooters, HSBC, Orchard, Household, everything. I was wanting to wait until the first of the year to apply for credit, but I am going out of town in November and need to rent a car. If you don't have a cc the rental companies want your firstborn child. It's very difficult!
