Refinanced car and credit cards..WOO HOO!

Hi all!

Just wanted to give a shout out to the credit unions!! WOO HOO!

We refinanced my husband's car last week, going from a 19.99% interest rate (loan gotten RIGHT after bankruptcy) to a 4.99% interest rate. He had some equity in his car, so we rolled up a few credit cards, too.

Then, the remaining credit cards (18%-27% interest rate), we rolled up into their credit card, at a 13.49% interest rate!

I LOVE CREDIT UNIONS!!

P.S.--Our scores were 578 (DH) and 655 (mine) after 2 years.

Good job on getting the vehicle refinanced. I second your opinion of credit unions, at least post bankruptcy. Mine was very easy to work with prior to filing but some folks get hammered by the cross-collateralization thing.

My husband lost his job 3 months ago, so we sort of lived on our credit cards...no umeployment, no unused vacation pay...it sucked! Now, he's got a job (not as much money though!)

I tried to refinance auto loan which has currently 17.5% with Americredit to Patelco credit union but I was being denied. When I called them to reconsider, they said I have to wait at least two years from discharge. I have to wait one more year.

My thoughts exactly, guess I look at those things from a totally differant perspective after going through the last five years of payback.
