Well we had our 341 meeting today. Unfortunately our meeting had to be delayed for an hour while our lawyer ran to his office to get a copy of our tax return. The trustee didn't have it and the lawyer hadn't brought it with The U.S. trustee's office emailed right after we filed with some questions (our attorney had made a few minor errors on the paperwork - easily corrected). Those were pretty much the questions the trustee asked us. The lawyer seemed a little irritated, as we had already emailed the U.S. trustee back the answers. Otherwise the trustee just wanted the account number for a cc that we did a balance transfer from in Sept. for a lower interest rate. Otherwise we got all the standard questions everyone else got. I was a little irritated with our lawyer for the tax return and the errors on the paperwork, but it all worked out with no ill effects. Plus he had prepared us for the 341 meeting so much better than the other lawyers we saw while we were waiting and he was quick to help us by pointing in the schedules to where we needed to look for the trustee's questions and answering anything we needed him to answer.
The trustee actually seemed pleased to deal with ours – which was rather straight forward (no need for a continuance, not a lot of additional info needed). She was pleased that we had watched the 341s before ours and knew what questions to expect and could answer quickly and decisively.
He did say that Discover had sent him a letter about the balance transfer from September threatening to object. He said to ignore the letter as that cc is only for 2500 and it would cost them that much to file, hire a local attorney, and other court costs. I hope he is right. We actually weren’t as nervous about the 341 as others have seemed to be. I’m actually more nervous about the next 60 days. But overall I have to say the worst is definitely over. The worst for us was simply the decision to file.
I know there were 2 or 3 others I have noticed with 341s right around now. How did your's go?
