How I handled the calls

First I refused any registered letters and phone calls. My lawyer told me because of our filing plans that answering the calls and/or letters neither helped or hurt our case.

I luckily only had my cell phone registered with any creditor. So every time I got a call from a creditor I copied the number and put it into a special "No Way Jose" group that didn't make a sound when it rang. Yea, I got one of those smart phones.

Eventually the creditors did get my fathers number and he did get harassed and argued with the creditors. Then I educated him on telling the callers to stop harassing him and tell them he knew that it was against the law to call him. This didn't really help reduce the calls much. Thanks dad for putting up with all that.

About a week after I filed, the calls stopped.

I just started answering calls. I now don't receive any calls. However,

I used a script and told them I was recording the call. I wanted to make sure some lazy Customer service rep recorded my call and took my attorney's information and made sure not to contact me again. This all happend in the period of one week. I just make sure they I don't tell them where I am at in my bankruptcy. I haven't actually filed. I will in the beginning of October ( two weeks).

The last Creditor that called my wife (HSBC) surprised us by saying we also see you have another account with us would you like us to update that account. I replied " If you believe we owe another debt with you please update it to include our attorney information.

You never want to confirm or deny you owe a debt to them.
