John Potter is an attorney with the law firm of Twohey Maggini, PLC. His law practice focuses on the areas of bankruptcy (debtor and creditor), commercial litigation and divorce. He received his law degree in 1987 from University of Detroit Law School where he was an editor with the Finance & Business Law Journal and author of a published article related to The Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. He earned an undergraduate degree in business majoring in accounting and finance, graduating with honors in 1981 from Eastern Michigan University. He is a past vice-president and member of the National Honorary Accounting Fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. Potter is a past national delegate for the local chapter of the Federal Bar Association. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Grand Rapids, Michigan and the American Bar Associations, being part of their Family Law Sections. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute. Potter has taught seminars to other attorneys and professionals in the areas of bankruptcy and divorce and its impact on bankruptcy.
