John (Jack) J. Barrett, Jr. has more than 40 years of litigation experience, over the course of which he has tried more than 50 trials to verdict in state and federal courts across the United States. He has also argued before multiple state and federal appellate courts.Mr. Barrett’s litigation experience includes various types of commercial disputes, insurance coverage cases, insurance bad faith cases, intellectual property matters, adversary actions in bankruptcy, directors and officers claims, shareholder derivative cases, construction disputes, transportation-related cases, product liability cases, personal injury and property damage cases. He also has extensive experience with regard to a wide range of legal issues impacting the railroad industry, such as Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) claims, Rail Trespasser cases, and multiple fatality cases at railroad grade crossings. Mr. Barrett has managed nationwide product liability litigation involving medical devices, and counseled medical device manufacturers during various stages of product design and manufacture. For over 35 years, Mr. Barrett represented Class I Railroads, garnering extensive experience with regard to a wide range of legal issues impacting the railroad industry, and has personally handled a wide range of cases involving commercial issues, as well as cases involving the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA), Rail Trespasser cases, and multiple fatality cases at railroad grade crossings. Many of Mr. Barrett’s cases involve complex discovery issues involving multiple locations and large numbers of documents, including responses to government subpoenas and investigations. Mr. Barrett is proficient in utilizing information technology resources to manage such tasks, having done so from the early part of his career.
