i'm so excited i can hardy type...OMG...i just got an official notification of Achievements!!!!!!!!!! IN MY BOX!! OMG...really..i want to thank everyone who nominated me for this honor...i can't tell you want it means to me and my family.


laz....sorry...just have to go with it. i'm getting it and it's really NOT that bad...NOW THAT i have some friends...LOL!!!

Well, for one I'm certainly seeing increased posting activity, although I will not attest as to content. What I honestly hope doesn't happen here is:

1. People start posting for the sake of "points" regardless of appropriateness of advice and/or fit.
2. The site works because newbies come here, learn, and start contributing as well (look at me). I hope this will not discourage them from doing so via intimidation or other factor, otherwise the usefulness of this site will suffer.
3. The site does not develop a few highly decorated prima donnas.
4. The more importance/relevance we give this particular issue, the more likelihood of our fears becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. So I for one, will simply no longer have an opinion about this and wait and see how it all pans out.

All in all, I am here to learn, discuss my experiences, share, and help others with my modest knowledge. I am absolutely not into drama. I fully intend on staying on post-bk to continue helping/paying it forward, but if drama starts becoming the essence because of who got more points or awards or whatever, the likelihood of me staying on naturally decreases.

Just my two cents. I hope this works out Laz, too good of a resource to lose.

While I am so grateful for this forum as it has been invaluable during this process, I'm also not crazy about the awards and rating system etc. I hope it doesn't discourage new visitors from posting. I think we all try to help and share our experiences, but sometimes our experiences may not be as helpful because of the variations within the districts. It doesn't mean the post was not helpful or valid. I think we all have enough problems dealing with the emotional issues of bk, that having our participation and postings rated is really not necessary. Again thanks for the forum, but I hope you reconsider the rating system.

no!!!...((( are intent was to take the ride and then we decided monday will be best...since we are hosting the hoa meeting here tomorrow which means i guess i have to wipe out the toliets or something...

but we are both so looking forward to it!! actually, we thought we'd take the ride and get from both places and "test" them. thus far the whole food store in orlando has been 'best" for pizza...now that's sad...so we can't wait!

laz, of course... thanks for doing the great job that you do, keeping the site up and running. I share some of the same concerns as others with the system, but I'm #3 overall on the site, so I shouldn't complain, right? In any event, I think the issue will mostly be with whether the "achievement" system actually reflects a user's knowledge/contribution, or will it be something that is manipulated.

As a vBulletin operator myself, I like most of the new features of the upgrade. (I just haven't gone to Version 4 myself.) You're correct, we'll just have to wait and see how this all works out.

So, now that we have our own little b***h site, I don't know if LAZ is reading, but for kicks I hit a "thumbs up" or someone on my post did, I don't know or care, but then I get a PM that tells me someone "liked" my post. I don't give a rodent's butt about that, and now I am ignoring PMs that may be of importance as I feel "bothered" and actually harassed by such trivial things.

Thank you S.O. for the kind words. I still don't wish to be bothered with a like or not thumbs up or down or whatever. I noted "JustBroke" stated he was number three on this board. Anyone who has been here for more than a week knows he is one of the best on this board we have. He needs no medals of honor, his work speaks for itself. It does not make me feel like living and sleeping this place. I post when I can and do the best, most honest aid I can give without BSing anyone. JB does a superior job and I believe he agrees that the Russian chest of medals and honors mean nothing to him. The good feel of helping someone who is hurting or un-knowledged is reward in and of itself. I said it before, it humiliates me to see these badges of "honor" like gold stars in kindergarten for cleaning up your cookies and milk. I don't like it at all, it is childish, and competitive, and will cause postings intended on building gold stars and not true and unselfish aid to our fellow members who need real help and information. It is my opinion and I'm not changing it. Not even for a gold star. 'Hub
