The attorney told us it should only cost 5 to get the course. Low and behold I found one, Can I list it here. It is free and you only pay 5.00 for printing certificate. It is good for about 47 states. We just used it for Middle Dist of Florida for Hubby chptr 7. I remember 4 yrs ago paying 50.00 for my classes before filing myself.

As long as it is approved by your district it ought to be okay.
I remember our pre-filing course was $35.00 per person. We met with a real live person who spent an hour with us going over our finances. It was she who pointed out that we were better suited to a Ch7, rather than the Ch13 we were trying for. That was in 2007."To go bravely forward is to invite a miracle."

Yes, it's okay to post the class. In fact I bet it is http://www.consumerbankruptcycounseling.info/index.html.
Last time I looked at it, there was a warning that the certificate may not be sent to you immediately. So anybody who is in a hurry to file should read the site carefully and make sure they will get the certificate on time. But, this is a legitimate organization founded by a former California Insurance Comissioner, a retired judge and bankruptcy attorneys.LadyInTheRed is in the black!

$143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

i know ours was on line...over 4 hours...again i'm the ONLY person i know this happened to..PLUS it costs us $50, however, the cert was sent directly to the middle district of florida court, we just got an email verification from the company that it was done.
the first class on line was over 4 hours, the second class was approx 2. most people on this site i have heard it took them 15 minutes. again we were on the bell curve. also, after our first class the person on the other end felt so badly for us, she called us to see if there was anything they could do. yes, not charge us $50!

i still cannot figure out why ours was the most expensive i ever heard! our atty's firm is in the middle district and this is the company they said to go with since the certs are sent immediately. so, i guess they figured it's worth their poor clients paying for that service. yet, as you point out, you got the same cert for free!
that was a few years ago, maybe it's changed a bit, i hope.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9
