Sick teachers and firefighters need charity to pay medical bills.

Sad commentary on our current health system and debt.
As Brooks extols his vision of compassionate conservatism, he passes over the major outrage of Ruthie Leming's last year on earth -- the fact that her community had to hold fundraisers so her family could pay her medical bills.

I have family members who are or were (some of them retired already) public school teachers in Phoenix, and I have to say, their medical benefits are amazingly good. One of them has multiple sclerosis, which can be an extremely expensive disease to treat, and yet she is doing fine financially speaking because she only has little co-pays to pay, and the rest gets covered by the health insurance plan provided by the state of Arizona.

So, maybe it varies from place to place. But around here, teachers are paid well and receive excellent benefits.
    The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.
