Money isn't everything. I am reasonably healthy, and I am very blessed in many areas. I would rather look at the cup as half full, not half empty. Lightening, John234, Fedler, you can't rain on my parade. To answer your question, I am worth alot more than money, or my assets or what some people may think about my bank account......Each day I wake up looking forward to what the day holds for me and go to sleep counting my blessings, not my money or lack thereof. Hope that answers your question.
BUT STOP INSULTING ALL OF OUR INTELLIGENCE'S BY TELLING US NOT TO LIE!!!
I'll be watching, you may never know when or how, but I'll be there. I am there now....

Listen, I'm in the middle of fixing Wilma damage. I'm selling the little piece of land in AZ, I'll make about three grand on it. My "net worth" is definitely declining this year. Welcome back sunshine, I hope everything went well. Like I said, if one of my kids was dying it would all be sold for a hundred dollars if it would save his life. In the end, it is worth nothing. I thought Lightning was so concerned aboutly unearthly matters like soup kitchens and helping the needy and using outdated terms for his philanthropic volunteerism, terms that show not only is he lying but he has no concept of what he is saying.

This year may be a hard year for us. Homeowners Insurance is gone here and we will be cast into "Citizens". Gas is up to 3.00 per gallon with no sign of relief. For many Floridaians this could be make or break. I got my retirement statement yesterday, if I lump sum out (which they don't want but have to tell you about) I'll get a little over 200,000.00 today. Sell this, get a nice paid off home in TN for 120,000.00 and work another job, it is tempting, very tempting.

This is a sham thread, pretty crappy. There are better people than me worth less and more. I wouldn't trade being able to work with my hands and mind for anything. I am glad to be able to work every day and can make a living anywhere in this Country. That has value and gives me self worth. And to those of you with good education and a BK. I'd still rather have a good education than a million dollar settlement and the mentality of a warthog. Education pays off even if it is not in houses, land and possessions. Knowledge cannot be taken.

can you say that Lightning? I seriously doubt it. I really thimk that FDNY had you down pat, you must be a pathetic person, or just a kid playing on the computer. You are very transparent, you can't even disguise yourself.

Did I miss something robivi3? you seem to have your panties in a bunch about something... but I'm not sure about what. I'm Not trying to criticize you or anything but I'm not sure what you're upset about. A thread asking about net worth on a bk site is fairly relevent I would think. If you don't think it's a good thread... then why post in it?

            Oh, and my net worth...

if you don't count my 401k then about (-$105k)

if you count the 401k.... not much difference.

This should help illustrate why I'm here on this site!

LostOne, even though we have a high degree of anonymity on this site, it is still a strange question to ask without giving out your own information. And without giving a reason for asking the question, people were left to their own conclusions of the intended purpose of the question. (And sometimes some people think there must be some kind of agenda behind everything on a board, when in fact, it's merely an outlet for simple conversation.)

You probably didn't get a lot of answers since some people found it a little personal and therefore skipped over this question without commenting at all. If you're in a roomful of people and everyone was asked their salary and what they paid for their house, I bet not too many would answer--it's sort of like not talking about religion. ;)

On this board I wonder a lot of things--what salary people are making when the file bk, how much is their house worth, what lifestyle do they think they're living. But I WONDER about them, but would never actually ASK about them since people could misunderstand the reasons behind the question and look for an agenda instead of just letting someone get the feel of what a typical Ch 7 or 13 filer is like.

Sorry Lostone, guess you are right, this thread comes via our old friend Lightning under a new id. It just burns me that his only purpose is to belittle people who are here. There are really good, well educated people in this Forum and this person likes to lump every one and every printed thought into one coal sack. He offers cheap commentary wherever he appears.

I get angry over this thread because he is attempting to attack the self worth of people in here. Many times I told Lightnig to show us the money, show us his assets, he can X out names, account numbers and still put something up on the Web to give himself a shred of credibility. He has not.

There are alot of good people in here who friendship would be worth alot more than thier assets. Assets can be taken very quickly.

I think I'll just stick with this definition of asset--it's a much more intriguing conversation this way.

                    Asset:

A useful or valuable quality, person, or thing; an advantage or resource

My two most valued assets are my niece (5) and nephew (2).

House, cars, life insurance, paltry investments, 401K - probably $1mil but keep in mind that includes life insurance...depressing..I too try to count my blessings in other terms other than money. Hubby and I are resigned to working for another 20 years +....such is life.

Anon,.............. I'm worth less than less too.

All the attnys we met said they wish they coulda got their hands on us a year ago. They coulda saved us a ton of money. Now that we're broker than broke, we realize we shoulda filed 4 or 5 years ago. We'd have way more money and be ahead of the curve down the road toward recovery. But we kept digging a deepr and deeper hole just trying to live and maintain.

Ah, life's little surprises. Just when you think you might start to get ahead, a kid breaks an arm, or Hubby has a kidney stone, or the roof needs replaced, or, pick your poison.

                          You're joking. Right?

Most of us could retire twice on a mil in nw.

Read it again... the 1mil includes life insurance.... so they could retire too.... but all they'd do is lie around and stare at nothing all day.

LOSTONE0069, I don't think the question about net worth is the issue - it was the addendum to it. I do think net worth is irrelevant. What might be worth something to me now maybe worth more to me in the future, or worth nothing to someone else. Example - family pictures - they are priceless too me . BUT who else would want them - for a price?
John234 has the same family traits of lightening and Fedler. As for asking us a question and then telling "us" not to lie, was the biggest laugh I have had in months, people like him have lied so much t othemselves and others that they wouldn't know the truth if it bite them in the a$$. We get off the intended subject of some of these threads but for the most part we are respective and supportive of each other's thoughts and situations.
Besides we all from time to time get our panties in a wad about something that has meaning or a concern to us. This is just an extended family that hasn't formally met yet.
