    Rare coins

Was shopping at my local supermarket last weekend. I was paying and received some change which I put into my pocket. When I got home I took the change out to put into a jar for my grandson. I noticed this penny looked funny but sometimes here in the North West we get Canadian coins. Looked closer to discover a Indian head penny which was over 100 years old. Its worth is under 10 bucks.

Went to the same store yesterday and ask the checker about finding old coins in the change given.
Her answer: You can find old coins anywhere because kids take them out of their parents collections to buy candy with or the old coins are given to the kids to save and they trade them in.

    Interesting......

I worked at a gas station when I was in college and a man came in and bought cookies with some seriously old $1 silver coins. I, of course, traded them for my own dollars - they are both circa mid-late 1800's, though when I looked them up they weren't worth a ton, they were definitely worth more than the $1 he used them for! I should look them up now, its been years (15?) since I looked and I'm sure the value has increased.

I would give the coin back if it came out of someone's collection but If I put a notice up in the market, I would have every nut in town emailing or calling me. Trust me, there are alot people here, who are two cans shy of a six pack, if you get the meaning.

I can definitely understand how this happens. My grandparents gave me and my brothers a collection of various coins and even some 2 dollar bills in mint condition. I was really little and didn't have a clue that these things were special, and I spent one of the 2 dollar bills at a Dari Mart (like a convenience store, only better than the usual ones, with more interesting stuff in them). I caught hell for it when my Mom found out about it.
            The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.

I have 5 silver dollars from a grocery store..

The store my wife works at.. had a teller that took coins from someone that was buying a few things. My wife got the ok to "Change" them out with a 5 dollar bill..
Those are worth more then a dollar a piece.. About 24 bucks a piece...
