GoingDown, I think what that shows is how many of those forums are actually run for and/or by the credit industry. Of course they want to shut you down...that means you're doing something GREAT!!!!

One forum called me a "credit criminal" for advising people who were insolvent to stop paying any of their creditors. They were advising people to do debt consolidation and credit counseling, which is a scam in my opinion. They banned me for expressing my opinion about it being a scam and for what they called "the unlicensed practice of law."

Two other forums didn't like my advice concerning not opening probate when the estate of deceased relative is insolvent. One of them banned me for it. The other one threatened to ban me also for what they called "the unlicensed practice of law," but didn't follow through with it. I had to change my wording to, in essence, say what I did and what the creditors did, but then leave it at that and not connect the dots for the readers, to comply with their rules.

Another forum that was pro-debt collector banned me for advising people to use Google Voice to avoid debt collector calls. They hate Google Voice, by the way.

Many good questions, and there have been no good answers. I'll reserve my thoughts and opinions because they would certainly get me banned.

people do come and go as they continue their journey into this new realm. but it's great to know that we still have a place to go and chat about our experiences and exchange our thoughts and feelings with each other. the support is so vital to many.

Congrats on the discharge! Look out for dancing hamsters coming your way soon. You have obviously been very very busy for we know you would have been here immediately to tell us. Time to break out that BRANDY Old Man! Woo Hoo! Of course that is AFTER you bring the wife home safely first. So sorry to hear about her illness. Hoping for a quick recovery. My fil has it and he does fine as long as he avoids nuts and seeds.

I think that when people are in the throws of filing for BK this site becomes their second life. People want to get any information they can about what they are going through. Once it is over or they have completed their BK people tend to go on with their everyday lives. You see it in divorce forums as well. For me I've had my 341 and the only thing left for me to do is pay my $100/month for 35 more months and I'll be done. It's been rather painless for me. My BF is going through a Sheriff sale on his house and has been unemployed since June 2011. He will need to file BK sometime in the future. He's not real big on posting questions on forums and even less into reading them! It's beneficial to me to read other people's post and experiences and give him the information. He tends to be reactive rather than proactive. They more I can get him to be the latter makes my life a lot easier . Besides, I like reading about other people's situations. Even though I will never meet anyone on this board somehow I've become attached to a few and genuinely care how things turn out for them.
