    Credit Card Sweepstakes Scam-BEWARE

I got a call today, on my office number to my direct line, regarding a Visa/Mastercard (generic!!) sweepstakes that I had "won." The girl on the other line told me it was the "trip of a lifetime" sweepstakes, but I have yet to find anything.....

The number that they called from was (866) 823-6977

So, beware. I am 100% positive that this was a scam.

This is the 2nd time i've had to deal with magazine scams! first time i fell for it, it was door to door. NOT THIS TIME! trust your instinct if you feel like this is cant be real ITS NOT! they called from 770-382-8330 I asked what business they were from, being very cautious and weary since i was recently scammed
              "visa sweepstakes"
she said "your a preferred customer for visa/mastercard for the sweepstakes, what card has served you the best" (RED FLAG, SHE SHOULD KNOW)
              I said Visa
" she promised a diamond watch possible money and trips blah blah blah, a new car. I would get free magazines too! (THIS IS WHERE I KNEW IT WAS A SCAM!!! MAGAZINES WERE WHERE I WAS HIT BEFORE!) why after all those great prizes would they give yo magazines!! from visa COME ON! I was very bland and direct on the phone having no personality in my voice at all. I didnt want to get sucked in. BE CAREFUL, BE SMART!!!!!
BUT THE CATCH WAS after all those prizes they could afford to give away and magazine subscriptions free for 48 months they needed my help with 2 weekly subscription to ROLLING STONE and US WEEKLY for $3.92/wk.

Some how she already had all my personal information!!!!! that made me made, she confirmed my mailing address! my phone number! (NOT MY VISA ACCOUNT CAUSE THEY ARE FAKE!) A REAL VISA CALLER WOULD KNOW! asked my marital status, if I had kids, (TOO MANY QUESTIONS) She could tell I was getting VERY hesitant so she changed the subject tried to relate with me about weather where I live. Told me her brother was here this winter and said how cold its been. and "good luck storming the cold weather!!" it's 50 degrees here! !!!not cold! Now it was time for me to talk to her "supervisor" ANGELA BRADFORD * the other woman's name was BEVERLY!
I asked where they got all my personal information?
she said "visa, or I logged into one of their websites like bettergifts.com" SCAM SCAM SCAM.
AT THIS POINT I WAS DONE AND WANTED THE TO DELETE ALL OF MY INFORMATION. BUT BEFORE THAT......

she again confirmed my information (stupid me) I was looking up scams while she was talking. instead of paying attention. She was very strong on the fact that before all of this could happen (magazines and prizes) they needed my place of business' name and anothe phone number. I said NO, DONT HAVE ANOTHER PHONE NUMBER. (I KNEW THEY NEEDED IT TO CONTACT NOTHER PERSON TO SCAM, AND IT WOULD BE MY FAULT!!!!!!)

next she said well we NEED the name of the place where you work. i said I dont want to give it out over the phone.next.....SHE HUNG UP ON ME! VERY PROFESSIONAL SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM.

BEST PART!!!!! I looked up the phone number its based out of CARTERSVILLE,GA NOT ATLANTA,GA . how ironic the same company i was just scammed by door to door was also based out of Atlanta GA! i called back, lady answered with just her name(i didn't get it)

i asked 'what company is this"
she asked "did you just miss a call and were calling back?"
i said "no i was hung up on what company is this?
              she said "visa sweepstakes"
OMG THATS THE BEST SHE COULD COME UP WITH.

i said" ok, i want to to PLEASE delete all of my information you have"
she said "really? ok, but i need your first and last name to do that"
I said" did my phone number show up on your screen as i called?"
              she said "yes"
              I said "delete it PLEASE"
VERY RUDELY AND SARCASTICLY she said" yea ok have a nice day"
              AND SHOCKER...HUNG UP ON ME!

i HAVE SO MUCH DETAILED INFORMATION FOR YOU OUT THERE! SCAMMING SUCKS AND ITS VERY INVASIVE TO KNOW THAT THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE KNOW ALL THIS ABOUT YOU AND CAN SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING THEY ARE RIPPING YOU OFF!.

              BE CAREFUL,BE SMART!

You can read about Nationwide Marketing, the scammers who called you:
                  http://www.ripoffreport.com/telemark...ersi-a74b2.htm

Anyone can get your phone # and address. Forget about it.

You opened a thread from 2006, btw.
