BTW...I will not vote for any candidate who wears their religion on their sleeve. Bachman, Paul, Perry etc. will not get my independent vote and right now Romney is the only Republican candidate I will consider voting for if I vote Republican. And yes, I'm hoping for someone I like better but it's not likely.

actually, i'm scared now, and found as the result steming from the last election, it most likely was a heavy contributor to this mess we are in. i believe in a "balanced" government, different views are healthy and most everything should be challenged to the ump degree, but this is to the point of ridicules and dangerous for all of us.
where to go next?? who knowsLast edited by tobee43; 08-13-2011, 04:50 AM.8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

I think your point is great - also though the larger point is that corporations any non-natural persons - do not have CIVIL rights of free speech - money should not equal speech.
And of course you're quite right - the original definition of fascism as laid out by Mussolini was the merging of the state and corporations.
Originally posted by banca rotta View PostCorporations are certainly people if they are honest hard working people that run small to mid size businesses.
A companies like BOA, JPM Chase, ExxonMobile or GE that sell their stuff to Americans and the US Govt (IE the taxpayer), but open shop in china and pay no taxes are not people. They are the anti-christ if you ask me.
I strongly believe in corporations that compete fairly and employ Americans.
Romney is referring to the fascist corporations that I mention above when he sticks up for them.
He will support any bailout these bigs need if they ask him just as every other president has done.

Re Perry
I recently read an article in the Texas Monthly (old issue) about 2 convicted arsonists (separate but very similar cases). The first guy somehow hooked up with a prestigious law firm that took on his appeal pro bono. They researched and found reputable leading experts in the field of arson investigations who, using newly developed science, "proved" that the first guy didn't commit the crime but that the fire started exactly as he argued. He was ultimately released. The second guy wasn't as fortunate.
In Texas there is a commission whose job it is to oversee executions and pardons, etc. A few days before the second person's hearing, Perry, fired three of the members and replaced them with three of his appointees-people who really understand. The second person's hearing was canceled and Texas added another notch to its bedpost. When asked about this Perry replied "Yeah, I know the "new evidence" (complete with air quotes) might have made a difference" (or something to that effect). Not saying the second guy was innocent or even the first was but how, in Perry's almight God's name, can you ignore science and put a person to death? easy I guess when you are as self-righteous and God fearing (exploiting) as Perry strikes me.
He sends shivers up my spine. I'd take 8 more years of W as a preferable alternative.
Here's a link to the article http://www.texasmonthly.com/preview/...terfrommidland

daylate you will find that Rick Perry is not very well like in Texas. He like most politicians is an opportunist who could give two squirts of you know what when it comes to the people of Texas or the USA for that matter. Perry who is now a so called Republican is the same guy who was chairman of Al Gore's campaign in Texas. Only a short time before GWB was elected governor did Perry switch parties.

i just have to keep reminding myself that HE did not do all this, it was brewing for years. although, his handling of the situation was downright disgraceful. and, while i understand for the sake of the world he couldn't let the banks fail, places like aig, well, he should have let them fry. how about a bit of bailout money for US??? you know, the PEOPLE, PEEPS, US...aka the USA voters??? not!!8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

Were Obama really a "socialist" like painted by Fox News/the Right, he wouldn't have thrown BILLIONS at the banks, he would have nationalized them AND/OR broken them up - frankly, he should have done both...I would argue he could have done so by emergency rulemaking through the FDIC. In addition, he would have insisted on having Prof Warren for the Consumer Protection Bureau, would have supported the audit of the fed (Ron Paul & Bernie Sanders), etc. As far as domestic economic policy is concerned Nixon was more to the left than the pres.
Elizabeth Warren for pres!!!!

Just to keep everyone straight, the Obama bailout was just a continuation of the plan concocted by Paulsen a Bush appointee. If memory serves me correctly, the big bailouts started in the fall of 2008. To blame Obama for the mess we are in is insane. The US economy, now part of a global economy, is a battleship and can't be turned overnight. Low interest rates and the Fed creating billions of dollars has done little or nothing to stimulate the economy. Bottom line, in my mind, is that the US economy cannot be unilaterally fixed as was done in prior recessions. We have too much of almost everything (except politicians with brains)-we don't need more houses, stores, cars, etc. what we do need is vast improvement to our infrastructure which will cost billions if not trillions to complete. Where will that money come from? Lower taxes? I think not. I am very concerned about our plight.

I agree! I have been saying this too for sometime that he's just a continuation of the Bush wars and other big spending policies.
I sadly bought Bush's B.S, learned the truth and realize that they are all the same. So many however still cling to their partisan political views. The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of Government
