    IRS Letter

Omg, panic set in, I got a letter from IRS yesterday claiming i owed 2400.00 more taxs on
my 2009 tax return. I was depressed all day yesterday worrying about. How could that be I always use Taxact to do my return. How could this be incorrect? I did get a SSDI lump sum in 2009, so I had to file that and worried about it, but after much research I did it on taxact.
Should I just pay it , IRS is nver wrong right. I read it over totally confusing.
This morning I studied it , There were errors on it about my 1099 i got from pension, claiming I did not have withholding of 862.00 ( which i did ) so I looked further. They stated my ssdi amount was reported in correctly by 9500.00. Ouch..
I got on phone with a friend CPA, who said fax over all your returns back to 2006 and I will look over. Nice offer. But instead I called 800 on irs form.
I advised them i had withholding of 862.00 and proof of it, after awhile , IRS admitted
the examiner error. since I have lump sum distribution for 4 yrs, it was wrong too. So to send the letter back and mark dispute. I owe nothing.....most likely . Sorry for error.
OMG I almost sent them a ck for 2400.00. Lesson learned...

I've once had to fight with the IRS, and I won. As long as you send copies of paper proof, with a written explanation of what the proof is for, you should be good.
Filed August 20 341 on September 23 Report of No Distribution - September 24 Case Discharged and Closed on November 23!!!

Lets see--- never wrong.....a few yrs ago i got a bill from the IRS for 28 THOUSAND dollars. You want to see FREAKING OUT!!! I had income that yr of 9400. hummm lets see.....LOL somehow this just didn't seem to pencil out.

What happened was a 1099 that was sent in from a contractor for a small wallpapering job i did $850. worth got entered as $85,000. I had to send them a copy of the 1099 and it eventually got corrected. but not after 5 more thousands got added on for penalties. Pretty scary stuff.

Mrs. C and I are our own Trustees for our Charitable Remainder Trust. It is a non taxable entity. EVERY year we have received a tax bill for filing late. We pay big bucks for a VERY good CPA company. Last year we were declared three months late out of the Oct 15 automatic extension as our CPA always files us late. Not a problem with us.

Well thank goodness for the good old green card of certified mail. Always keep those cards. In fact, if you wish a real cheap Notary, purchase a one cent stamp, put it partially over your signature and have the post office cancel the stamp. A time stamp by the U.S. Government. The P.O. must cancel the stamp. Copy it and send by certified mail. KEEP THE CARD. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

There was a time, way back when I was a single mother when there was 'free' tax preparation for those of us in my circumstances. Well, the preparer did my form wrong and I received a HUGE refund, more than I'd ever gotten.

I did not trust it and kept the money in the bank. Sure enough, I was audited and was able to give back the money that day. It could have been very scary if I had not listened to my inner voice.

I received a letter from IRS in mail, It said I owe zero. No apology for scaring me to death. Just letter with 2009 tax owed .00 . What a relief.
