There is NO PE teacher making over $100K in this country. IF by any chance there is, it's someone who works for a large district, has been there for like 30+ years, and also coaches, etc and thus earns extra money.

Yes, after school coaching, debate team etc can get you a few extra bucks.

But where I live after 30 years of experience, the MAX sal for a teacher WITH a PhD!!!! is $69K/year. That is IT.

IamOld, i know three teachers all that teach in "middle" school levels are in their 50's early 60's making WELL over 100k in nj. i don't know about the PE teachers..

and here my son in law (who didn't get the jobs by the way) after the cuts was bring home 22k...as i have stated. just TERRIBLE...

his last job in nj where he got layed off...(new teacher syndrom, he was making 28k no benefits since we was temporary full time and filling in for the entire year for an ill teacher).

I am 100 percent correct. Looked it up in public records. Yes, this person has been there for about 25 years, and makes over 100k.

        As for Americans getting fat...

do you really think a PE teacher is going to make a difference?

In Tn starting teacher pay is 33K in my area. Plus they are laying off many teachers who have 10 + years of service. They made them take retirement offers so they could bring in teachers at the starting pay of 33K. I remember reading a couple of years back the pay for teachers with PhD topped out at 53K.

Now the principles are make more money.

I do remember going back to school in 2001 and I paid 700 per semester. Now the basic cost just to walk in the door is 4K. Boy how I wished I had completed my degree in 2001.

I'm really not about to go into the argument whether the teachers are overpaid, underpaid, or what have you...

With what the education system looks like today, you couldn't pay me enough to teach elementary or high school. Seriously.

The bottom line is, there's a TON of waste, fraud and corruption elsewhere in the public education system.

I was involved in a project that included a brand-new school in one of NYC's five boroughs last year.

The final cost - borne by the taxpayers - was $42M. No, I'm not kidding and yes, you did read it correctly.

It doesn't teleport kids from their homes.

It's in a less-than-desirable area where one couldn't pay me enough to live alone, let alone with my family.

A lot of seemingly fancy features (some of them *extremely* half-baked on sheer technology basis) that will be prohibitively expensive to maintain in working order once they're out of warranty...

In all fairness, it could've been built for a quarter of the cost (even with unionized labor) and still be "wow" enough to prove that Bloomberg cares for less-than-privileged children...

It must feel good to spend other people's money on making yourself look a defender of the poor and provider of the equality.

I wouldn't know because I've never tried playing that role.

              Nor would I ever.

              Good luck to us all.
