You can get Verizon (or Sprint) service through third parties, which is what I used to do for my wife.

These were the folks we used:

A gaffe here and there, but overall they were quite alright and much cheaper than getting service directly from VZ.

    YMMV

    Good luck to us all.
No person in their right mind files a Ch. 13 with lien strip pro se. I have. Therefore, please consider me insane and clinically certifiable when reading my posts, and DO NOT take them as legal advice of any kind.Thank you.

Straight Talk (Walmart) and the service provider is Verizon. $45 plan is unlimited everything and you can set it up to auto refill monthly or put the service cards (purchased at Walmart) in a reserve account and you choose a date each month that it will dump a refill into your phone at that time. It easy, its simple its cheap and no contract. You have a choice of many phones and I have one that you can access the internet, talk, text and photos ($39.99), there is one cheaper at $29.99 as well.

I have At&T right now. 85 dollars per month. I have 450 free minutes, unlimited internet, and 200 text. I have an iPhone.

In August I will be switching to Verizon. It is the same price for the plan, but I will be able to use 4G service instead of having to run on edge all the time. I need to have a phone for work and school.

Wow, I feel cheap!!! I use a pre-paid Tracfone. Have a double minute plan, spend maybe 75.00 a year but only use for emergencies, etc. My landline including DSL, caller id with Verizon is 43.00 a month. I do not keep long distance on my landline, use Google voice to call everywhere long distance for free!

            Just call me frugal......LOL!

When my "bundle" for "free" phone service ends with cable co, I think I'll finally convince spouse to get rid of landline...UNLESS cable co offers another "deal"

looks like Im switching over to sprint. My job gives a healthy discount and their service is solid where I live.

Nonsense. I dumped my cellphone (which was with T-Mobile) back in 2008, and got a home phone instead. I can talk as much as I want with no "per-minute" charges, no overages at 50 cents a minute, no dropped calls, no poor sound quality, and no hassles--since I have an unlisted number. Now that I've been cellphone-free for almost 3 years, I don't miss it at all!

I dumped Verizon 2 years ago and my wife and I use Virgin Mobile. It is owned by Sprint and operates on the Sprint 4G network. $25.00 for 300 minutes, $40 for 1200 minutes and $60 for unlimited minutes all plans have unlimited text, email, web browsing no hidden fees or add ons. I use a $10 phone and I read email surf the web and text just fine. I could not be happier with them

I'm with you in the respect that I'd *never* give up my POTS line. We've had situations where the heat, snow, rain knocked down the power lines, and good ol' plain-copper-dialtone stayed up...

If most people had the slightest idea how the vast majority of cell towers actually work, they wouldn't give up their landlines either, but that's a whole another matter.

I also have a ringdown circuit that is tied to local police station...long story behind that one, but let me put it this way: the alarm system on my house is there for the purposes of insurance discount. My guns and the aforementioned ringdown are there for *real* safety.

My cell phone is provided and paid for by my employer...

                          Good luck to us all.

Verizon - 3 phones, Friends & Family share plan 1400 minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile (verizon customers), 10 friends/family numbers (home or otherwise) that is unlimited, unlimited text, plus MiFi 2200 (internet) for $211 a month.

Still have landline (also verizon) with unlimited long distance ($70.99) month all in; we have to have a landline as cells dont work too well in the house. Wish I had my wonder twin powers so that I could activate the new cell tower thats been sitting 4 miles from us.... for over a year now so we could get better service!

Tmobile prepaid. $100 per year gets us 1000 anytime minutes which we never use up. Not the stupid $1 a day plan, but the traditional Tmo-to-go.

I used to have an AT&T blackberry thru work but could not use it at home, voice quality was so poor. And I am physically located very close to the NJ Turnpike which you would think would just about guarantee good coverage.
