As if this weren't a bad enough week

Dh and I are a little stressed because our 341 is coming up next week. Well, when I was in town this morning, my daughter called to tell me her favorite puppy had been hit by a car. Dang! She was the sweetest little puppy. Already so obedient and coming at just a whistle. My heart just breaks for her.

I am so sad for you and your daughter.

How old is your daughter? If she is a young girl, tell her there is a 'puppy heaven', and her little pup was needed.to help out. Tell her also, that another little pup will be sent sooner or later to fill his/her place....

    Just a suggestion....

I have a similar story about my cat....

EDIT to add: I re-read your post, and it seems that your daughter is grown and living away from home. I apologize for my earlier comments, though I still have the miracle story about my cat, and I DO well sympathize with your loss.

    My Best~~~~

No, she's not grown. She's 13. We had two puppies and didn't want the one left to be alone so we got another one from the same litter. Little collie mix puppies. I just felt horrible because I wasn't home when it happened. Tough lessons for kids to learn sometimes!

confused I know how you feel. My kids had a dog that we had rescued from the pound. It wandered too close to the road (we lived in the country) and it got hit by the one car that came through that day. I felt sooo bad for my kids, but it was a lesson learned for all of us. It is hard though.

Defintely tough. It's heartbreaking when a pet dies. I know I went through a really hard time when some pervert poisoned my dog (he was 8). You'll have to give her extra love and let her grieve. Sorry for the loss.

I guess they call the puppy heaven as "Rainbow gate" ... yes only the replacement of another pet would help the little kid to overcome from the sorrow !

              Take care of your daugther!!!!

A few years ago, we had a cat who died at age TWENTY!!! She just got up one day, and couldn't move...took her to vet, her kidneys had shut down, etc.

              So....

              Anyway, we all cried.

It was a cat my wife had rescued as a tiny thing from outside her mother's house in a rainstorm...I had fed it with an eyedropper...

Now the other puppy has parvo. Geesh! We can't seem to get any animal breaks this summer.

I am so sorry!!! My dog has a hurt paw and it's been really tough. He needs long walks but can't take them. Some kind of infection in the paw.

You are reminding me to get vet insurance.

I hope your puppy will be OK!!!!!

I don't know that you are going to be able to *justify* pet insurance in your itemizations for your BK paperwork. It will depend on your state, district and trustee.

We are in Florida and had to give a value for our three cats. We thought, "WHAT???!!" All three were rescued strays, and to us as 'family members' are priceless. Nevertheless, we had to put a value down, which we did for $1.00 each. We were questioned at our 341, and we replied: "we have three rescued strays, two American Domestic Shorthairs, and one American Domestic Longhair." The trustee let it go at that.

Other states have better provisions for pets, whereas Florida had none at all when we filed. If you are convinced you need pet insurance, you may need to consider 'padding' a little here and there to accommodate it.

As much as we both love our pets, I just cannot recommend buying pet health insurance. You need to take care of yourselves first.

                    Good wishes to all.

Oh, I was actually getting vet insurance because I am terrified of having something happen to my pet and not being able to pay for it!!!

It's $25 a month. Even if they don't allow it as an expense, I think it's a good idea.

It would be horrible for our pet to die for a preventable cause but when you have a kid and the dog is her best friend it's sort of unthinkable.

HI moe - we had this a while ago - then couldn't afford it any more - considering how much the vet nickel and dimes you, I do think too it's a good investment!!!

I guess it's good to be informed but this bankruptcy thing is kind of terrifying. What do you do? I can't give the dog away. Kid LOVES the dog. YIKES.

There are some prices to be paid for charging your groceries in the years you were unemployed, that's for sure.

I think the puppy is going to make it. The vet said today he thought she was doing better. I'm so glad! Not exactly what we wanted to spend our savings on, but at least we're not going into debt for it!!
