This has been one issue I am very, very interested to see how it works out.

With the foreclosures people just leave the keys in the mailbox and walk away. With credit cards and other debts bk is usually the answer.

I wonder how almost a trillion in student loan debt is going to get settled when it can never be forgiven?

This is also a big reason why I am constantly saying we are in for massive inflation. I feel eventually congress (probably not this congress) will eventually forgive this debts and print all the phony dollars to cover the banks losses.

These students will never pay this back on their own period!

Already in possession of one B.A. from a big ten university is not doing the job. The next question becomes is it really significant where you go to school anymore depending on your career path? All my big ten school alumnus status has done has been "ice breaker talk."

Don't know your age, and I'm out of the workforce and retired (broke). Lost my @$$ in fighting with a jerk with more money than I had for lawyers. WON though.

I am a computer hardware/software consultant with 40 years of experience. If I were younger I would put my use to two things: Learn Mapping. In other words Arc-Cad by ESRI and databasing. All surveys are done with Computer Aided Drawing, with overlays and data forms for every object. Pair this with learning the career of actually surveying. You will never be unemployed, and I'm not sure but to learn this does not requires a college degree. If you go to ESRI and look at Arc-Desktop, you will see what most Cities are using as well as online versions you may have used to look up your property taxes. It is replacing AutoCad. The older stuff. That is only a suggestion. 'Hub

Thank you for posting that! I've been thinking along these lines for ages. As someone who counsels teens, I see they all think they must go to college, must get into that lifetime of student loan debt. What happened to apprenticeships? Learning a trade? Who's going to pick up my trash once a week? Fix my plumbing? A college grad, that's who...and he will need to make $20/hr to pay for his cost of living and his loans.

You assume too much. I have not stated your accusation. I stated the parallel of what words were state in 1937 and the last two years. I gave the route to take on you tube, so who is so lazy as not to go to you tube and type into it H I T L E R. It is easy, try it for yourself, if your mind is not closed. Sorry to insult your political bias. I'm proud of mine.

I'm not sure about the reference to Hitler, but this was an interesting video. I don't agree with everything in the video, but there was lots I do agree with. I have a college education with a degree to show for it. I currently (and have for the last 17 years) worked in a field which has absolutely nothing to do with my degree. In fact, I did not need a college education to get my job. I don't make tons of money, but it is a decent wage. I get paid 5% more than my colleagues because I have my degree, but in my opinion that is kind of silly. I got out of college with only a 1000 dollars in student loans and I paid that back before my ten years were up. I have told my kids that I can not afford to send them to college and have offered to pay for the first year of a community college if that is what they think they want. I have one son who is starting community college in the fall and the other is joining the military. I really believe that my son who is joining the military will have a better future than the one who "believes" he has to have an education to make it in life. This generation has not been taught any basic life skills. If not for me, my kids would not know how to balance a checkbook (or even what one was), use a phone book to look up a phone number, call and order their own pizza, create a budget, make change, or numerous other skills that are needed for life. I am ranting, but I am frustrated with the state of education. However, until enough people get fed up I don't really see anything changing. Just my two or three cents.
