    Weather today April 27-28-29, 2011

    Hi All:

If you are in the affected areas of the Southeast that have the devastating tornadoes, etc., please let us know how you are, if you are able to.

Is there anything that some of us nearby might be able to do to help?

    Thanks,

    AC

That's sweet of you to ask, Cat.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.

We live in Alabama and got hit very hard. They say no electricity for at least 10 days. We had a tree land in middle of house and have 20 trees down in front yard but we are ok and that is all that matters. 35 people lost there life 12 miles from my house so I am just thankful to be alive right now and nothing else matters.

I live in one of the areas that had the F3 and F4 tornado hit. The tornados touched town just 10 minutes from my house. Lucky for us it did miss my house. I have friends that were not so lucky. Parts of my area is destroyed. I heard CNN today run a news report and asked why over 200 people had to die through these storms. I can tell you first hand the storms started at 8:30 in the morning and did not end until 1AM. Basically one strong cell would spawn tornados and another strong cell would follow that strong cell. The tornados were not the only thing that caused all the damage. The strong winds reached hurricane force, and those winds did not spawn any tornados. I attend classes at one if the universities and there is a graveyard right across the street. Some of the trees were uprooted in the graveyard exposing graves.

I know there is a need for bottled water, food, and clothing items needed. Water is being rationed right now and people are being urged to watch how much they use. Right now 67,000 people in just my area alone are without power, schools are closed, and some schools have been destroyed. I have to say we were prepared for this here as much as we could be. The news stations were great and did an all day coverage to help inform people what was going on. The news station also streams to your mobile phone so incase you lose power you can still get updates this way. The places that are hardest hit in my area are Ringgold GA, East Ridge, TN, Redbank TN, Rossville, GA, and Apison TN. All surrounding areas in Chattanooga, TN, Harrison TN, Ooltewah TN, Cleveland, TN, and Charleston, TN and Hixson, TN have trees down and have some sort of damage from the storms. This is just my area but AL, TN, GA, and MS have storm damage including AL had an F5 tornado.

The website that is handing donations for this area is. I believe they are directing where additional supplies can be sent to. I am sure clothes and other items can be donated as well.

Only time will tell but the byproduct of global warming is more intense storms. Contrary to popular opinion, the warming of the globe doesn't mean warmer winters for the North or blazingly hot summers in the deserts but it means the atmosphere will carry more water and storms will intensify. Are the recent storms from global warming? That is unknown but if you've been paying attention to the weather lately you'll see more rain and more intense storms have been happening throughout the globe.

            Hi All:

I created this thread in order to find out how our members from the affected states are doing, and what, if any assistance members of the BKForum could offer to those in need.

This is NOT a thread for discussing politics of any sort, including global warning. Discussions of that sort need to be carried on in other threads--not this one.

            Thank you
