    ROFL...VY....ROFL Lemon Law!!!!

Well, Dh and i have been married for 4 whole months now...And they said it wouldn't last. LOL
We had been on a 10 yr date

WE talked about a pre-nup and he didn't want one.
I'm the one with nothing. cept my tools of trade the trustee questioned (my $1.99 hammer) and my 2002 van w/ 168k miles

wanted me to be protected if something were to happen to him ( he's 76 and I'm 59) so everything would go to me anyway...So he said a pre-nup wasn't needed
He didn't want me to end up having to live in my car someday.

He/ (i helped too) just finished building a new home (no mortgage) and he wanted my name on it after we got married.

When i first got on the forum a yr ago (wow, it's been that long) one of the first questions i asked was should we wait to get married (he'd been wanting that for quite a while) and everyone advised wait till after i got my financial situation straightened out (I still can't say bankruptcy out loud)
My name on his house would have been VERY VERY BAD in my bk..It was his whole life savings.
Don't know if him having a pre-nup and my name not on his house would have protected him.

Wow am i getting off the subject.

Anyway...life is sooo awesome and i don't need any music to dance.
I cherish every day i have with him. Life is way to short

The very best to you discombob....

To me, happiness in marriage = independence within your dependence. You can try to protect your $ and stuff with a pre-nup but what is gonna protect your heart if you break up?

Falling in love is easy. Staying in love takes hard work. I can honestly say that it is worth it. We both agree that we are even stronger as a couple after our little "speedbump" of bankruptcy.

Awwww.. congrats Ohio & BTS Many blessings for years to come!

@ VY - very true and give hubby a hearty pat on the back from me. Arent those the greatest men ever?! I've got one of those too

@ oregon: Hey - do you know my in-laws? LOL Same here... Met at 19 (me) 24 (him) - married at 20 and still going 20+ years later - and they all said we wouldnt last a year. to the naysayers It took them 4 years to understand that "we" weren't going anywhere - love them dearly though.

Great men are hard to find as it is, but when you find the one that makes you feel like you're the only woman alive regardless of health issues, if you're decked in sweats, no make-up and pony tails or dressed to the nines and dolled up - those are the ones that are priceless.

For all of you men that are those priceless few - thank you for being who you are - and thank your momma's & daddy's for raising you right. May your daughters be as lucky to find the same & may your sons walk in your footsteps.

Trust me tobee......I can spell......I merely followed your thinking (see your post I answered)......spelling is hardly a requisite for her. She may have great expectations and exceptional standards and taste but spelling is certainly not an issue.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

For my own personal reasons I have never allowed him to loan me money (my mess, my responsibility, etc.)

We have a ton of friends who have been through bitter divorces, probably part of why I have gotten to my mid thirties and he to early forties unmarried. We love each other dearly and are both educated professionals. Both of us have been through unemployment (he had an emergency cushion and parents who helped, I didn't). Has anyone here used a pre-nup and wished they hadn't? Or has anyone not used one and wished they had? Just trying to get some opinions if anyone is willing to share.

Are religious views being taken into consideration?

As a Christian I think there is something inherently wrong with prenuptial agreements. They are akin to crossing your fingers behind your back when you say "I do." You are conditionalizing your relationship. Being joined together in God to me means everything. Our assets/finances mingle quite happily together.

Marry someone you trust and who trusts you and prenups are kind of useless.

Why are religion and God necessary ingredients for being merged as one with one's partner?

Did I say they were? I must have missed that. I believe I asked if religious views were being taken into consideration.

These are my personal thoughts on the matter.
