LOL! I've enjoyed the "non political" thread very much.

For one (not to search names) I enjoy my diesels and yes I have known how to make bio diesel. Too much time and trouble when you can mix it with fuel oil and it works just the same.

About the CFL and the seal lubbers and tree huggers. We have had mercury filled lamps for half a century. They are called florescent tubes. The CFL is very dangerous if you consider the mercury in them and that all houses will by Govment edict state you will.

I used to play with mercury as a kid. Mercury is very dangerous ingested in any way. yet, we (many of us olders) have mercury fillings in our teeth (if we still have teeth).

Now to date, Japan has had a very serious Natural Disaster. This will kill off all nuclear power. 'Bammy vowed to kill off coal. Your Pries car that needs batteries burn far more energy in it's manufacturer than you could ever save in a standard car. So, a 25K car in 6 years needs a 4K battery? What savings? High five those tree huggers as I constantly pick up plastic bags that will last for years over a paper bag that will rot in months and go away. Yes, we are sooo intelligent about sparing the damned fish for the sake of water to water food for PEOPLE.

Wood is a renewal resource. As it is going now, we may all be burning a lot to heat our little shacks.

      Think about it.

ADDENDUM: Yes I use CFL's in that it has saved ME money. In the long look, it saved nothing but the Chinese bulb manufacturer. Thank God for China. So, what has hope and change done for your? 'Hub

Tobee... perhaps someone who ate a lot of mercury as a child? Or, at least, lead paint chips.

Obama opened up some drilling in the gulf and we had the BP disaster.

Obama has proposed 54 Billion dollars in loan guarantees for nuclear power and now we have Japan's disaster.

Everyone wants to blame the liberals but I guarantee there are plenty of wealthy Republicans living on the beach that want neither oil drilling nor Nuclear power plants in their back yards. Bush wanted to open up more drilling off of Florida but the Republican Governor at the time said no way!

It's the media and the talking heads that make this political because that's the only way to get people fired up and listening to their shows. How much money do Beck, Limbaugh, Obermann make? I don't listen to any of these guys unless it is by accident but no matter which side of the political spectrum they know how to drive their audiences emotions.

I doubt that all the welfare recipients, minorities and union workers care if we drill in Alaska or put up nuclear power plants. Supposedly these are the people that make up the democratic party.

Unfortunately, this country follows what's politically correct -- and "saves" jobs -- not what is good for an individual, the environment, or the planet as a whole. Unfortunately, we, as the American people, tend to latch on to a subject and because someone is beating a drum, we listen and then proceed, uneducated sometimes, to follow that drumbeat.

I give you "dihydrogen monoxide" and how it is in our lakes and ponds. How "dihydrogen monoxide" is used by nuclear power plants and other manufacturers. How you can die from "dihydrogen monoxide" poisoning. How many children die from inhalation of even SMALL amounts of "dihydrogen monoxide" each year! Acid rain contains "dihydrogen monoxide"! Biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors have shown levels of "dihydrogen monoxide"! It is also known to cause excessive sweating and urination.

Just sign my petition to ban "dihydrogen monoxide"!

Claim is unnecessary. I am stating as a fact that I do not like the quality of the light. LOL.. It makes my skin look weird..

The savings aren't worth it and why should someone be telling me what kind of light bulbs I can buy. That alone is enough reason for me to want to stand against them.

Broke Republican here that works in the oil industry needs to point out that Obama did NOT open up drilling. It was already open.. he just closed it..

As far as your sentiments go, cars kill people: we should ban all cars. Knives kill people: let's ban all knives. People abuse aerosol products: let's ban hair spray and spray paint.

                            C'mon... banning ScotchGard? Really??

                            Other things to ban:

We need to ban depression. Depression is responsible for alcoholism, bad parenting, bad marriages. Depressed people act out in random acts of violence. So let’s ban depression. We are now legally obligated to be happy.

We should definitely ban traffic. Who has ever had road rage? I have. Most of us have gotten outraged when stuck in traffic for seemingly no reason. Sometimes I wish I had missiles on my car so I could blow Grandma who is driving 35 mph out of the way. If we ban traffic, then Grandma would be safe. Though if we banned cars this wouldn't be a problem.

Finger gun: We’ve all done it as kids. We held our thumb up and pointed. Bang bang! By the way, a gun is not shaped like that. We need to ban that. People making gun fingers will lead to violence. I mean kids playing Cowboys & Indians or Cops & Robbers will lead them to shoot people.

WE SHOULD HAVE A CHOICE!! THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING.

I think we should follow the the Reedy Creek Improvement District, home of Disney World and the two cities of Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista Florida, and ban chewing gum! It damages clothing. It sticks to everything. There's no real need for it since we have invented Twizzlers.

While we are at it, let's ban all bans. In the end, we should be able to choose our own demise.
