Happy new year to you as well !! I don't want to fail myself for setting goals I know I will end up breaking later down the road.. So I've decided to just slow down and enjoy life, and hopefully i'll have less stress, to think more clearly .. and be happier around my family.. so.. as they say on t.v. " have a good day and take time to enjoy the view "

    Happy New Year Everyone

I don't make New Years resolutions. I have goals and plans for the year, but if I make a NYR and I trip up and fail at it, it feels like I've failed for the whole year. Does that make sense?? LOL Resolutions involve a mind set or change in mind set that happens every day, not just at the year's beginning.

So, that being said, my financial plans for the year are:
        1) to get this BK discharged, God willing
        2) to pay off the car loan my mom has that we pay on (because we have and use the car) by July 1
        3) to take a chunk out of my IRS debt - I want it gone within 18 months.
        4) to set aside money each month, so that we can drive back home to CT next Christmas to see family

        Non-financially
        1) start the ball rolling to take classes again, I want to finish my degree in the next 3 yrs
        2) be more active: I want to weight 10lbs less next New Years.
        3) Organize my closet
        4) Get new file cabinet to replace my old dented, non-functional one. Clear that one out (there's stuff in it 7+ years old!) and get my current paperwork filed away. Currently, it's either in a rubbermaid tub or stacked on my desk.
Ch 13 filed 06/22/09. Dismissed, thankfully, 03/31/10. Ch 7 filed 06/28/10. 341 07/29/10. UST POA 08/06/10. UST mot to dismiss hearing extended to Dec...Feb...March...May...Aug. UST withdrawal of dismissal filed 05/31! DISCHARGED 07/12/2011!

My only New Year's resolution is the same one I've made for the last 16 years:

Clear and clean up my garage so I can park one of my cars in it. I keep have setbacks, like inheriting all my parents stuff, giving up two other storage rooms, and picking up "valuables" from the trash area nearby. It's also either too hot or too cold to work in the garage. I'm thinking I should just burn it down and collect the insurance...

Hey Whatmoney, politics aside, we are kindred spirits. I sure would love to be able to just see the inside of my garage. My god-daughters fill it with their stuff from bidding on storage units. They make out but I lose space. Mrs. and I pick up all kinds of good stuff on garbage day. I recycle used computers and working TV's to old folks homes and those who cannot afford a PC. Microwaves I fix and give away. I do not sell gifts given from junk as I feel it is used better for those in need.

I'm bk but far better off than many so I don't abuse God's gifts.

My resolution is to remember my last ten years. God took my adversary away in the way he wished, dead and cremated and atheistic. We have prospered, and I have shredded all of my old court files. It is a wonderful life. Use it to help others and you will be taken care of by our Supreme Being. 'Hub

P.S. Happy New Year Whatmoney and all here.

well my goal has changed from 15-20 lbs after you mentioned pole dancing has possible job openings!!!

LOVE talking to the dog..you just made me laugh...thinking about how my dog would be in the kitchen while i was cooking dinner for my kids and they were little maybe 4-5.....and i ALWAYS talk to my dog...i would say "excuse" me..if i hit her while walking by....or lay on the floor and play nose to nose...( I KNOW FOR YOU DOG people you may think that is submissive behavior from a human)....but i liked to get on her level...LOL....she was about 110 pounds ...so one day i'm talking to her after i accidentally bumped her and starting speaking with her, when one of my kids says..."mom"...do you really think she understands and hears you.....and i loved at him and said OF COURSE she NOT only hears me...but IF YOU LISTEN really carefully yourself...you'll find...she also ANSWERS YOU back!! ( my poor kids...when asked if i believed we came from the bible or evolution i said neither i came from outer space)...

                    so TALK to your doggie!!!

You have no idea how it feels shredding nine years of litigation from a Scrooge like sociopath. Well, picture yourself as a child on Christmas morning. Feels that good. 'Hub

                            Financially:
                            1) Clear up a mess with our reaffirmed car.
                            2) Start an emergency fund with a goal of 3 months living expenses (baby steps here)
                            3) Accelerate my payment plan with the IRS and get that balance down.

                            Non-financial:
                            1) Make more "me" time. At least once a week, I'm leaving the kids with hubby and escaping to a bookstore for a few hours so I can sip a latte and "browse" the overpriced magazines that I cut out of my budget. LOL!
                            2) Date night. Twice a week, hubby and I turn off computers and hop on the couch to watch a movie, play a board game, or just talk after the kids are in bed.
                            3) Learn to knit or crochet.
                            4) Be more patient with everyone who crosses my path. Take the time to listen.

Oh! AND, I really wanna get rid of that flabby part of my arms - you know what I'm talking about ladies. It's that part that hangs and keeps waving long after your hand has stopped. Yeah. THAT has got to go.
