Seems like lots of FL folks on the board... wondering how NJ experiences have been...any interesting stories, trustees sending appraisers out, etc?

IF we had stayed we would have filed federally, since in nj you have the choice...after reviewing nj exemptions i felt it was a very creditor friendly state.
after we realized we were losing the house we decided to wait and hold out the two year residency time and file in florida, although, we still have the property in nj...what a mess....
are you going to be filing nj or federal exemptions...i would examine them both carefully...8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

yes in NJ you always choose Federal. trustees tend to be a little bit more lenient here because it is not a known debtor-friendly state, i.e. no homestead exemption. in my opinion, anyway. we don't have some of the horror stories that come out of Florida central district.filed chapter 13..confirmed...converted to chapter 7...DISCHARGED!

thankfully we had no problems, but it most certainly is or would no longer be my choice!8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

yes, it's easy and i LOVE our "little" spot on the forum for all us in the sunshine state......
we came from nj...and man we think the exemptions here in florida are bad, take a gander at good ole jersey!! it's why we left and waited 2 years to file....8/4/2008 MAKE SURE AND VISIT Tobee's Blogs! http://www.bkforum.com/blog.php?32727-tobee43 and all are welcome to bk forum's Florida State Questions and Answers on BK http://www.bkforum.com/group.php?groupid=9

If I read your question correctly you said that your husband made under $6000. With a four person family you tax liability would be zero. Which would result in the minimum stimulus payment of $300 for each of the adults and then $300 for each child, which would be a total of $1200 rebate. FYI... AGI is adjusted gross income.[Advertising links removed by Moderator. Please see Forum rules.]
