TSA officials do not do "clothing only" - they touch your body, including inner thighs and backside, in full. Even the pilots are up in arms over this.

"In late October, TSA added another layer of security, the resolution pat-down, which requires TSA agents to grasp the body of the subject more firmly when running hands over limbs and also requires probing up to the genital areas of the body. The scanners show a body's contours on a computer stationed in a private room removed from the security checkpoints. A person's face is never shown and the person's identity is supposedly not known to the screener reviewing the images. Under TSA rules, those who decline must submit to pat-downs that include checks of the inside of travelers' thighs and buttocks.Aguilar said that once a passenger enters the security area, there is a legal obligation to follow through with the process.

While a passenger can ask to opt-out of the full body scan, they must walk through the traditional metal scanner and then, at the discretion of the TSA, undergo a pat-down search. This is what I was saying. If you opt out of the bull body scan you are subjected to the pat down.

Aguilar said the aggressive body search is not designed as an inducement for passengers to opt into the full body scan. "

TSA's website clearly states that "due cause" is up to the official even if you pass the scanner - and the bottom line is the American people have no rights as to what is justifiable for such a search, i.e., TSA doesnt NEED a reason. Thats wrong - even police have to show cause.

I'm all for security as I've said, but I'm not for trampling on my rights as a US Citizen. Constitutional Amendments are there for a reason yet it seems every day a bit more is hacked off what this country's basis is, all in the name of _________ (insert reason here).

    Dont Tread on Me indeed.
    We will disagree then

Without giving too much info about myself. I can tell you TSA officers are NOT performing unclothed pat downs. Your clothes stay on the whole time and you have to option to doing the pat down privately or at the check point.

Quote by 'Pandora': "While a passenger can ask to opt-out of the full body scan, they must walk through the traditional metal scanner and then, at the discretion of the TSA, undergo a pat-down search."

Well...My wife is a frequent flyer (with me in tow periodically) and please allow me to comment that IF there is a mandate about walking through the traditional metal scanner (prior to a pat down search) after a passenger opts out then it certainly has NEVER been her experience ( and while I do not opt out, I have witnessed how she gets 'handled').
On the occasions that they want her to walk through THE full body scan machine instead of a metal detector, she always opts out, then gets to wait for a female employee to conduct the pat down.

Please allow me to also point out that yesterday I watched the 'TSA head hunchy' on TV. He was asked if small children are also subject to the same thorough pat down procedures as adults. He clearly stated that they ARE NOT SUBJECTED TO THE SAME PROCEDURES (while admitting that despite of policy it has happened).... Hearing his declaration I conclude that a terrorist hearing his statement certainly will now have clear instructions as to how to bring 'stuff' onboard...

BTW: my wife states that she has never been touched in the below the belt private area (hmmmm....all jokes aside, in my opinion that voids the whole idea of a thourough pat down...), and it is also noteworthy that recently on 2 separate flights we were able to bring a bottle of 8oz water through the airport screener on flight #1, and on the other flight, 2 small bottles of alcohol (Jack Daniels & Vodka) that we had received complimentary on the previous flight.....

Should also be interesting how exactly they'll treat 'religious' pat down objections. i.e. by vailed muslim women ( there are women behind there, are there not ?)... I think I already know that outcome....or I picture what all can be transported in one of those small sqare 'head gear' boxes (sorry forgot the name) that the jews sometimes wear, and that NOBODY is allowed to search/open....as per court orders ( !)...not even correction officers in maximum security jails are allowed to inspect those for contraband.....think it's going to be any different at airports ?...think again.

I conclude that I get on a plane reluctantly, and I do not forget my prayers.....

Well, the TSA LOSERS will not be touching my junk. This is absolutely pathetic and will stop NOTHING. There is no way I would take my kids up to some POS from the TSA and try to tell my children that it is ok that they rub their hands up their legs & touch their "junk". Give me a break. Half of the TSA employees I've seen look like they are 1 step from living on the street AND/OR terrorists themselves. Hey, they fit the profile. At least we SHOULD BE PROFILING. But, that is too racist, huh? My 60 year old mother flew last week out of Richmond, VA and had her boobs LIFTED UP so the TSA lady could feel under them. Then, she slid her hand up my mother's inner thighs until it "rammed" into her crotch. I think not. Although, I do think it would be funny to take a few viagra and then go to the airport and DEMAND to be patted down.

I'm sending a letter to the CEOs of all of the major airlines. I won't be flying again until the TSA keeps their f'en hands off of people. And, these full body xray machines are too detailed and expose people to too much radiation.

Again - Flying is not a right - it's an option.

Please with your rage I wouldn't recommend driving either.

I find it so funny when people complain about the elderly being searched. You would be amazed at what happens behind the scenes at the airports. Last month a 77 year old man thought it was ok to put two 9mm pistols in his carry on.

These are the same people who will complain that there isn't enough security if (I hope never) our airplanes are hijacked.

People forget the reason why this security is needed.

A simple solution to anyone who doesn't want to be screened - Find another form of transportation.
Oh but Freddy, your post is non sequitur. An elderly man who stows two guns in his luggage is probably senile does not have it all with him, and is not likely to overtake the pilot and crash a plane.

I too have to respectfully disagree in that today a women stated that an "inspector" put his hand several inches under her panties. If I had a kid in line, and anyone would touch him/her, that person would be on his back and hurting, just before I get my night in jail. I'll take that chance.

The weirdos that have been caught are only of a fraction who have NOT been caught yet. Figure, how many times have many people driven under too much booze but got by? Only a fraction have been caught.

I'll tell you what I would do if subjected to this disrespectful situation. I would start yelling "OH god, don't stop, not now I'm going to .............". Let THAT one hit the paper and news. 'Hub

Allowing these pat downs is anti-American. Thus the terrorists win. They do not want our land. They want our freedom and they are getting it with our own help. These measures (like the no fluids over 4 ounces is only window dressing to make stupid people feel safe. It does not really add to our safety. And NO, the ends do not justify the means -- if the end is perfect safety -- which is not attainable anyways. Yes, 3,000 people dying is tragic - but more people die each year in this country from texting while driving. I am not willing to cave in and give up all of our freedoms just to "feel" safe. Unfortunately war is big business so there is substantial interest in keeping us in war. If we really want to win the war on terror then we would not give up our freedoms and we would be doing everything possible to become energy independent so that we are not funding the terrorists and would not be interested in manipulating their countries -- which is the real reason they hate us.

I agree with all Freddy has said. Screening procedures are not a violation of your rights, they are a conditon to getting on a plane. If you choose to fly, you have consented to the procedures.

TSA has to do what they think is necessary to prevent another 9/11 like event. If they let a terrorist through because the procedures are too lax, who do you think will get the blame when the terrorist flies a plane into the White House? Damned if you do, damned if you don't!

I like the idea that the next time we fly, just do so naked. When arrested for indecent exposure, just claim you are complying with security protocols.

Also, if you get in the security line naked, but are still wearing shoes, do you think they would still make you take off your shoes.

I'd be willing to start a fund to pay the fines and bail of anyone willing to protest the absurdity of these security pat downs by getting naked just before going through the metal detector.

Actually I was thinking it would be better to go there and say I am homophobic and I suffer from anxiety attacks so if you want to give me a full pat down it has to be by a female. What are they going to say about my "medical" condition. I am unclear why they would assume because I am male I would not have a problem being "fondled" by another male.

For all those that believe TSA officials do not touch in private areas or children... think again. All you have to do is Google and you will see that its a complete violation of one's body. A reporter had his 3 year old daughter screaming and crying "DONT TOUCH ME" was in hysterics and the entire time the TSA woman was ignoring the mother and the child - running hands up her tights, on her bottom, IN HER SHIRT, etc. I'd have gone to jail because no one would touch my child that way, ever. How are we supposed to teach our children "good touch bad touch" from strangers or even friends / family if we allow total strangers to violate them openly with us standing there? Hmmm.

I've also seen where TSA officials have had their hands INSIDE clothing - women men, didnt matter. TSA officials can MAKE a woman wearing a skirt strip it off in order to be examined, requiring her to wear a towel or robe. WTF?! If a Police man/woman cannot do that under the law without your consent and probable cause, then why on earth would a TSA official - most who have absolutely NO Law experience and are not police officers - be allowed to do so? Read the hiring requirements to become a TSA Security Screener... they're pretty standard and comparable to a Mall Security Guard (no offense to those that work for TSA, I'm just quoting from their site and hiring guidelines). If I feel that someone is getting their jollies and feeling me up vs. what an officer of the law can only do by laws set forth (pat clothing only and are NOT allowed to enter into pockets, waistbands, shirts, bra's etc...) then it becomes my word against a TSA employee. MY thoughts of what is appropriate vs. inappropriate are my own and no damn TSA person or anyone else in this world is going to invalidate what I feel nor tell me it was "appropriate" because they said so. Please...

Those "xray machines" they use - they are not supposed to be able to tell who you are, or be able to save images. Really? Then why on earth did they get caught with saved images? "I forgot / I wasnt aware / I didnt know" aren't answers, they're excuses. Have you seen the images? I'm sorry - anything that can show if a woman is on her cycle let alone the shape of her body - is no different than making her strip down in public. Again, everything is "in the name of security" yet they use that again, as an excuse to do as they please when even official law enforcement isnt allowed to do these same things under law. Why are pilots' unions and crew even saying its a violation and want it stopped immediately? Pilots and crew are the ones we need to get from point A to point B - so if they're up in arms about it.. what does that say?

I will not fly under these new "laws" and my children will not fly either. I understand that not all TSA Security Screener's may perform such searches and may do it as a basic run-of-the-mill standard police frisk, however they are few and far between. For those that say "that's your right not to fly" yep, it is..and its also my right not to be touched without my permission according to the Amendment and laws set forth.

This all reminds me of that old Sandra Bullock / Sylvester Stallone movie where all violence was banned, no one could touch each other, all were microchipped and the gov't had full control over every aspect of your life. We're heading that way thats for sure. What's next? Are we going to have to limit how many children we can have like some countries do? Ugh.
