It has been so nice reading all of this. The ideas and stories are awesome. I think that I am stressing a little more over this than I should. My mother-in-law is who I want to get something just perfect for. She has been such an amazing blessing to us this year but it very difficult to shop for. She hardly leaves her house. I thought about a girls day for us, but I know that it wouldn't go over with her, though she needs pampering. I wanted to get some photos of the grandchildren framed but every square inch of their walls and surfaces are covered with photos/collectibles. Her husband collects NASCAR paraphernalia, which should make him easier to shop for but actually is more difficult because he's so dang picky.

The only child we shop for, besides our own is DH's little brother (3) and that's somewhat easy because my son is only a year older than him and so I know that age group well but DH's father is so particular. We told him that our son watches Dora the Explorer and he went off in a rant about how he'll never let his son watch that because Dora talks to kids like they're stupid! They like Disney though so we usually just stick to that and Melissa and Doug food play stuff.

I'm really not worried about us at all and we aren't in need of anything. I just want to give my in-laws and parents special meaningful gifts this year because they made it so much easier for us than it could have been.

They helped you because they care. They are perceiving your troubles. Here is a bit of suggestion. Give them a thank you Christmas Card with a personal note of thanks for all their help, and with THEIR advice, you are going to put to use your new start. This is why you Folks, are getting a card as we need to take care of our children frugally, and take care of ourselves first. Thank you again for you WONDERFUL support.

Too simple? Not really. Those who know you, love you. So, what is Christmas about? Santa? No it is about Christ's Mass. Has everyone forgotten what this means? We gift each other. Gift them with thanks. That is all they would expect and would appreciate more than "Junk" you buy at WallyWorld.

      Think about it. 'Hub

From reading all the post i felt that it is not the worth of the gift but the thought behind that counts. a gift need not be expensive but if is thoughtful and sensitive then it will definitely strike a chord.
