What do the little icons mean?

Is there somewhere on this site where you can find a dictionary of the icons. For example, each post has an envelope next to it. What's the difference between red and black? I get the little green arrow means that I originated the post, but then when there are multiple pages for the post, I see what looks like a blue "tag" on page 2. What does THAT mean? Is there somewhere that we can go to figure out all of these little icons?

Excellent. Looked at all of those, but still don't see the one with the little "blue sales tag" looking icon. It's next to some of the posts in the list of posts within a forum.

That means the thread has tag words.

You can tag your new threads with search terms.

Oh, and if you hover over the tag it will show the tags that are marked in the post.

When you post a message (in go advanced, not quick reply) there's a spot where you can add "tags." Tags are search terms that someone might use to find information. So, you know how when you want to find out what happens with a collection through capital one in California, you'd enter "California," "collection," and "capital one" (or something like that) in the search box? Well, those terms are what the computer searches for in the posts. Adding tags to your posts gives extra search terms for the computer to find. So, if my post is all out the fight I had with my husband over our bills, I might put the word "marriage" or "argument" in the tags box to help someone find it. Make sense?

Edited to add: I just tried to add tags to this message, and I don't see the option in advanced, so I'm not sure when it does and does not offer you the option. Maybe it only offers the option to add tags when you create an original post?? Not sure about that...

I thought it was "decorating" your post at first (like gang taggers "decorate" their territory)...LOL!

You can't tag replies on a thread, but you can tag the thread, even if you didn't author it. Scroll down to just below the "quick reply" box and there is a box that says "Tags for this Thread" and click "Add/Edit tags".
