Just saw this article today...talks about the risks of finding rentals on places like Craigslist. Since many here will be looking for rentals after BK, though it would be helpful. Its still a good source, imo, but you need to check out the supposed landlord as well.

Best advice I can give is to go online to the county recorder's website and make sure that 1. the owner of the property matches the landlord, and 2. there are no notices of default recorded. As a matter of fact, anyone who is renting should at least every 3 months pull up records from the county recorder to see if any NOD's have been filed. That sghould give you enough warning of landlord problems and a possible foreclosure.Stopped paying: 08/10, Filed CH7: 08/27/10 , 341 & No Asset Report: 10/6/10, Last day to object: 12/06/10, Discharged: 12/07/10, Closed: 12/08/10
