Is anyone else worried about Greece and what it means for the USA?

I'am so worried it's hard to focus on my bankruptcy and 341 meeting next week.

Greece is NWO Test Ground, Says Greek Reader

I am 26 years old and live in Greece. I am writing this letter in order to let you know about a new law in Greece announced yesterday.

The financial minister of Greece announced yesterday that from 1/1/2011 all financial transactions of sums above 1500 euros in cash, will be banned. For any transaction above 1500 euros, only credit cards and checks will be legal...A young man living in Greece and having no connections, is hopeless. Without connections, he will have major difficulties if he wants to join a good University(or complete his studies without bribes), if he wants to find a job, or create his own. He will be forced to join the army while privileged young men with connections will illegally avoid it...In a few words... Life in Greece sucks. Since I am a computer programmer, i have many times thought about leaving for a better country and make my living there. But i do not want to abandon my home... yet. I would be willing to fight this system, but i see no point since the system is so well entrenched it cannot be tackled by a few men alone.

The reason i wrote you my previous letter is because this new law of banning cash transactions above 1500 euros is just another step towards cashless society, and is being implemented in Greece as a testing phase. I strongly believe it is a matter of time before most western nations see similar laws.
I just read this article by Niall Ferguson, of the Financial Times, London
    Wednesday, February 10, 2010.

Niall Ferguson: A Greek crisis is coming to America

On reflection, it is appropriate that the fiscal crisis of the West has begun in Greece, the birthplace of Western civilization. Soon it will cross the channel to Britain. But the key question is when that crisis will reach the last bastion of Western power, on the other side of the Atlantic.

I think Greece's problems need to be put in perspective Xue.

For example, California is seriously insolvent right now. California is the 8th largest economy in the world. (California's economy is the size of France's). Greece's economy is number 34 in the world.

So yes, Greece is in trouble and is insolvent. Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland are not far behind Greece. But it is not really any different than what is already going on in most of of our states here. (43 of 50 states are in financial trouble here)

And as for the other conditions described in your post, well rich boys have always been able to buy their way into universities and out of military service in just about any country, including our own.

I also think banning large cash transactions is as much about fraud and terrorism and crime as it is about the collapse of the Greek economy.
You can't take a picture of this. It's already gone. ~~Nate, Six Feet Under

I think this is much worse news for the EU. What it shows is that the whole European Union is not a single economic unit.

How long will one country want to force their citizens to work until 65-67 to support another country that allows their citizens to retire at 60-62? Reconciling the various tax codes, work regulations, social benefits, etc will be hell.

When you add on to that the massive immigration from Africa and the Middle East and you have a recipe for disaster. Just look at the regular rioting in France, usually attributed to generic "youths". When you look closer you find the rioters are young immigrants from Africa who are living in slums with no prospects of employment.

I'm worried about where my feta cheese and extra virgin olive oil will come from. ;-)
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

I'm far more worried about the United States and the path of payoffs and reckless spending we are doing. If it ain't broke adjust it, don't destroy it. California is a 1/50th microcosm of what our Country will be soon. You can't eat dollar bills that buy nothing anyway once hyper inflation starts, and start it will. When I got married in 63, I make $94 a week and lived better than I do now. What's up with that?

A television cost $400, to $600 dollars then but it lasted 30 years. If it broke you had it fixed, you didn't trash it on the side of the road and Walmart a new one.

The best car I owned was a 68 Ford Fairlane with all the goodies. $3200 and nothing finance for more than 36 months.

From the confusion even with the ruling Democrat Party in power, I see mass exits on both sides as many know the voters will rebel and rather than lose, they will resign and take their campaign war chests with them and life long salaries, and flip us "workers" off. Only my opinion. 'Hub

Check this out, Hub: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/ If you put in $94 in 1963 dollars, that equals $654 per week in 2008 dollars -- roughly $34,000 per year.

Plus, you were single up until then. Wimmins is expensive.
Pay no attention to anything I post. I graduated last in my class from a fly-by-night law school that no longer exists; I never studied or went to class; and I only post on internet forums when I'm too drunk to crawl away from the computer.
