Has anyone heard of these people??
I'll toss out some background. My Mom is one of these people that has fallen for oodles of these 'money making' schemes.....Herbalife....some Virtual Store Front.....the lastest go around is some scheme to do with Website building outfit called "Stores Online".....
Let's just say that none of these ventures has netted her any income. In fact, she has consistently LOST big bucks on these ventures but it doesn't phase her.
She drags me to these stupid venture meetings with the premise of "you must not be interested in your financial future if you won't at least check this opportunity out" (no, I will never tell my family about my bankruptcy...the lashing would be long and torturous and probably throw me into psychiatric counseling)....I went to the StoresOnline gimmick....armed with the ooodles of complaints that I found (which was promptly scooped up by their PR guy when my idiot Mom showed all of it to him...). Of course, they get some slick marketing guy in this hotel conference room FULL of people (I slyly counted at least 300 people) who were fed this BS about how they can easily start up an online store front utilizing drop shippers for their inventory. Enter the sales pitch....and the cost of 6800 bucks but don't worry folks 'we have on the spot financing'....plus of course 130-ish in monthly web hosting fees and merchant card service fees. That was last February and Mumsy has yet to get her website up and going.
Enter "Team National". From what I have gathered this is a company in Ft. Lauderdale with a B rating with the BBB. No real big complaints online that I can find. The 'deal' is that they sell a lifetime membership -for 2100 bucks - that gets you discounts to merchants and for services that you can use everyday....but I didn't find any merchants who advertise that they work with these people...or any really eye catching discounts that they offer. Oh, but wait, there's more...enter the MLM portion of today's program (I thought MLMs were illegal???). The concept is that you sign your two best buds under you...and make a commission off them joining the program....and their two best buds...and their two....you get the picture. There are people in this town holding meetings at their homes....and they apparently just show some DVD and folks are hooked. (Can I get an Amen here??) Apparently their clammoring that there is the potential to pull in thousands each month...just by selling this 'membership'.
Ugh...I wonder how much dough Ma is going to lose this time......or how many friends.....and how many brain cells I'm going to have to expend convincing her to quit spending money on crap and start financially accepting retirement.
