After 15 months of looking for anything, I was lucky enough to find an accounting job part time which is perfect! I can keep the kids out of day care so I don't have to factor that in when I consider the $15/hour. It's a big step down from where I was but I don't care. If I went back to that, the extra money would only go to the trustee while I'd be back on the corporate tread mill - kids in daycare, no one to take them to band practice, no dinners on the table, etc. This will roughly equal the amount of unemployment I currently get so this should allow us to stay within our plan for the next few years. I am so, so grateful that an employer finally saw past the "overqualified, only 30 hours a week" thing. It benefits them because they get my experience dirt cheap and I don't need benefits. It benefits me for all of the reasons above! I start on Monday!

Congrats. That's exactly what I'm looking for. Something parttime so I'm not working to pay for after school care for my daughter. Before I was laid off, I was working 30 hours a week and it was a perfect schedule. I was able to bring home a paycheck and still be able to be the mom and pick my child up and put dinner on the table without all the evening hustle & bustle.07/10/09 Filed Chapter 7
