    How do you get a copy of your corporate credit

    I have a corporation and would like to get a copy of the credit report. I dont know if there is any..it is a small business that I made into a corporation. Last year I bought a car under that corporation and that is all. The other credit cards I have their are under the business as a dba. I am going to try and build my credit up under the corporation before I file BK under my personal credit.

    Thanks

        Yep! I don't know of another service - you might try googling to see if there is another one.

          D&B is really the only service for corporate credit reports. There are plenty of laws regulating the personal credit bureaus but they don't apply to corporate reports. D&B has a lock on the market so if you really want to know then you have to pay them what they ask.

            when you got these cards, vehicle, did you use your own SS number?
            I just do not see others giving a business that has never had credit
            or no credit worthiness, credit cards, much less a vehicle...so I am
            curious if you used your own SS# to apply for these credit cards
            and get the vehicle.

            I have had a business amx before using dba...
            and used my SS# to get the card...I did not really have a business,
            but card the business card by using my SS# as the tax ID by
            using my personal credit...

              Obtaining credit in the business name is tough. Unless your business is rock-solid financially (in which case you wouldn't really need a loan, would you?) you have to start off with small lines of credit that the business owner(s) personally guarantee (with their SS#). I have several of those myself from Home Depot, Lowes, OfficeMax etc.

              The car loan may be a different story, since it's a secured debt. Perhaps with enough documentation that your business is doing well you could get a car loan without the personal guarantee.

                thanks for your input. I did get a car loan under my business corporate name and they used my SS# and the Tax ID number for the corporation. Other than that there is no other credit. I would like to have the corporated credit established before I file BK which will probably be in about 6 months if things dont get really bad.

                  If you put your social down on the loan documents, then you have personally guaranteed that loan. It's like having a co-signer - if the business defaults on the loan, the creditor can come after you personally for the balance and if you don't pay can put marks on your personal credit report. If you personally file for bankruptcy then you personally are off the hook for the loan. Depending on the terms of the loan this could be a problem. I'm fairly certain that you'll need to include them in your bankruptcy filing.

                  I have several lines of credit and credit cards from my business that were personally guaranteed by my social. None of those have been paid in about 10 months. Last I checked they haven't shown up on my credit report, but several have called my house and personal cellphone trying to collect.

                  In my case we're filing both personal and corporate bankruptcy so it's really a non-issue. I know that laws vary from state to state, but my lawyer told me that the business would count as an asset to my personal BK estate, which is why we closed down the store and sold everything off. I still continue to operate the service side of that business on a part-time basis but the retail side and all of the assets are gone. You should definitely have a discussion with a qualified attorney about the nature of your business and whether you can keep operating it through a bankruptcy.
