All I have to say is we should be reading the story about unemployment and its effects. Only 9% of our population is employed by MFG today compare to 19.2 back in the eighties. The reason this down turn is so hard is we have not saved as much so we have more debt. So, do some independent thinking here. Our incomes drop from exporting our higher paying jobs overseas, and we don't save.. gee how come? Service sector jobs do not pay I guess? Plus healthcare is so much more costly even for simple services. I would say unbridled capitalism drove us over the edge. We were once the greatest nation, that was before our government was sold to the highest bidder by lobby groups. Our problem is we are so busy kicking the auto worker for making 60,000.00 a year while the moron that is a CEO for healthnet is making that amount in 1/3 of a day that we can not think straight. We kick those who make less and cheer on the rip offs. I love our military, all you have to think of is blackwater and realize how good of a job our government does. Without government you would have no schools, no libarays, heck no roads to drive on. The idiots yelling about getting government out of our lives don't seem to have a problem with the fact that this depression is from capitalism and big business/banking. Insurance companies are private and they have promised since the clinton era that they would "watchdog" costs for us.. sure they have! Look at china, she is a republic, the top have all the money, the money incomes decline and they live in poverty. She is driven by capitalism as long as it pays off at the top, and she could care less who pays for it in their lives or limbs. She is a true example of capitalism.. do we look more like her, or more like Britian in that example? We have some freedoms and rights like Britian, but our market/business is getting pretty scarey to me. We are in bed with communist countries doing business the way they do, and everyone is okay with that? 9/11 was not Bushs fault, he was in office for 9 months.. yet Obama is at fault for the economy that has been sliding and proped up for a while before he took office? The facts are we have two parties that have no real reason to fight for us when their pockets are lined by the lobby groups, and big business. Return the government to being a government for the people, and kick the money out of it and it will run a lot better. Corruptions runs rampant in China and counties like her, again we are looking more and more like her every day.

HEY! I only answered the Op with my opinion. Don't I deserve an opinion? Does this Country or it's people no longer agree with Patrick Henry? Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense,.... (Patrick Henry). Where is it that the idea of "I do not agree with what you say, but I would give my life for your rights to say it" go?

KenShirley, you have been here a very long time and note you have friends. To leave services to help others when we have helped you, over such a thing as the freedom of speech, is ridiculous and a bit childish.

I only posted a quick opinion, and I am well aware of our system of laws and how bills are passed. My objection to this bill is a personal opinion and I too will be willing to die to preserve my rights to my opinion as well as yours even if I do not agree with you. I will not become one who folds under at the slightest action against me. I will defend my rights given to me by our BILL OF RIGHTS.

As to Social Security and Medicare, both are known to be bankrupted. Yes both are socialistic in nature. They have only worked because the abuse of the Trust funds nature breached by Nixon has been backed by our National Debt.

Blame Bush. Blah blah blah... I am not blaming Obama for the currnet mess we are in but I am blaming him for continuing Bush's polices that did little to combat what the liberal congress has done since Reagan left office to screw up our country ie Barney Frank forcing banks to loan to people that could not pay back creating the housing bubble. The Republicans became like democrats and the democrats became like socialist and Obama has become facist. Listen to Ron Paul, I mean really open your mind and listen to what he says. The constitution has been hijacked by bankers that control both parties and the best chance we have to get control is to go back to the constitution, not bigger and more bloated social policies. National government is good for defense and highways, local government good for trash collection, roads and utilites. Leave the schools to private business and churches, leave charity to private government. Let businesses start and quit handicapping with taxes. There will always be rich and poor, there have never not been. Every country has gone through this since the begining of time. Ours was blessed because God blessed it. Our blessings were removed when we blocked His blessing by not listening to His word. I know this last statement will get the the people on the coasts all worked up but the truth is the truth. I challenge you to watch youtube videos and type in Ron Paul and see how anyone who asks him a question looks rather silly by the truthfulness of his answers...Bernake, CNBC they all try to stup him but they can't because he speaks the truth.

I see a danger of compartmentalizing people into groups. Both Rep's and Dem's equally at fault. Other than the wisdom and tenacity to go after the terrorists after 9-11 I consider Bush to be the worse president since Clinton, and 'Bammy to be a "Manchurian Candidate". Bush's political suicide was to attempt to finish his Daddy's unfinished war of 1990. It was a personal vendetta. Afghanistan was the correct place to start, Iraq was 'personal' to sonnyboy "W". I class both parties as one in same. We have few real "Statesmen" today, only politicians. True meaning of a lying narcissist.

This Country is being sold down the river for a few who wish total power. Their power will come upon the backs of the common citizen. We are viewing the demise of the Middle Class. The whipping boy of the National Socialists became the Jewish race. The current "Whipping boy" are the small business entrepreneurs who will be saddled with confiscatory taxes and put out of business.

The bad times are yet to come and soon there will (due to the recent mass shootings) laws making all who own firearms to register these, and then the next step to confiscate these. The Constitution is under attack and not taken seriously by both parties. It is "out of date" I am told by many liberals who wish to rewrite it in their own words.

The truly rich, the ones who actually supply work, are going over seas in droves. The printing presses are causing our dollar to shrink and the only really new employment are the hundreds of pollitt bureaus now being set up for the micro-management of every free citizen in this country.

I think most people will agree the country started getting in trouble when we as a country, gave up our manufacturing base, but another important 'base' was given up before we gave up our manufacturing base and that was our mining industry.

People, it seems, do not realize our cars, computers, TVs, etc. all came from mines.
