i haven't watched TV for 10 years, and before that, i only watched 2-3 shows and the sunday talking heads. I stopped watching tv regularly at about 18 or 19 actually. There was too much "real" stuff to do. I don't see the need to spend a lot of money on a big tv set. Computers allow me to se what I want. Right now I am watching all of "lost." Right now, i watch whatever i need on the computer. I see the dvds i want, and see the occasional clip from the news programs. I don't waste my time with popular shows. Who wants to watch 'dancing with the stars' -- not me, i think it is stupid. I think all these reality/ talent and game shows are pathetic. Don't watch them at all.

I agree with you. I do like some of the history and travel shows on the other than network channels however, particularly in HD.
My wife has about 5 shows she likes on network. I do not tend to watch them with her.
      And Reality shows~~~~get real

What????????? Don't you believe everything that you see?????????

I heard a good quote a few months ago:

99% of what you see on TV can only be seen on TV.

        Think about that one!

I agree.. sometimes I can not see the whole screen for the logos or the display for up coming programs. At times it make me miss something in the show too with the on screen stuff. I really get mad when they do a interruption for storms in my area. Could they keep it small by any chance?? Geesh. We now pay for TV, sit through more and more ads too and on top of that the program will have a product like coke or something that they are using and showing the can to us. TV use to be free with few ads, the idea of paying for TV was so we would not have to watch ads, but instead we now have them every 7 minutes. Some programs they break for ads' and then come back for 1 minute to finish the story line, then go back to ads again.

Hint, get and use the DVR.
That fast forward button works great to get rid of the commericials!

We didn't have tv in our home until I was in high school. Nowadays, between the media in bed with the gov't., the age of the 30 sec. sound bite, (real or manipulated), the digital switch "for enhanced viewer pleasure" , this gave me the perfect excuse and opportunity to rid my home of this pest. I gave away, with pleasure, my tv and all of the other stuff that went with it, and have no withdrawal symptoms at all.

Yes, we have a DVR.. but my point is you get less program time and much more ad time... and we are paying for it on top of that.

We have cable and love the History Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Food Network, and of course, my PBS channels (2 of them). I do watch cable news shows -- all of them at various times because I love to listen to the right-wing and left-wing spin.

You will never catch me watching a "reality" show, however. No way, no how!!

Except for the news we don't watch TV on a regular basis though. Most of the time I read books, and for mutual entertainment we watch DVD movies and listen to CDs on my fantabulous stereo surround system. We splurged on that one 7 months ago, but it's been worth every penny.
BK 7 filed and discharged in 2004 after 30+ years of perfect credit. Life HAPPENS.
