It is sad to note that our own country has yet to erect a fitting monument to 911 all these years later. At least there is this beautiful teardrop tower as a remembrance to all who perished on 09/11, that they shall not ever be forgotten.
    It's not sad it's pathetic.

Has anyone been to places like Europe or Asia? In comparison we are starting to look like a third world country. I have not traveled in a while for um obvious reasons but with each prior trip I realized just how behind we are getting. The rest of the world is progressing and modernizing while we're squabbling over taxes and other irrelevant garbage.

I don't think taxes would be "irrelevant garbage". That is a HUGE issue on why we are falling behind.

Taxes in all of it's forms whether it's govt taxes, green taxes, law suit abuse, etc.

The high cost of doing business here is why the chinese are now laughing at us as they take more of our quality higher paying jobs in exchange for the bogus service economy we have created.

If we raise taxes it will slow the economy for sure. If we lower them we will go deeper into debt (something we here know too well what happens when it's ignored over the long run). If we have the fed print money to avoid the above, then inflation will create it's own hidden tax issue.

To me taxes in all of it's forms needs to be resolved to fix some of the mess. It won't solve everything, but it will help.
The essence of freedom is the proper limitation of Government
