    Heartbroken

My 86yr old dad died yesterday and I am heartbroken. He had been in the hospital a little over two weeks. The last week in ICU. He fought very hard until the very end. It was gut-wrenching to watch. After being moved to hospice care six floors up from the ICU he only lived for 30 min. His ICU nurse and his doctor both cried. He was so amazing.

Now we are planning the funeral and trying to stay strong for our 80yr old mom.

I am sorry for the pain you and your family are experiencing.

Your father sounds like he was a wonderful man, and lived a very full life. He was indeed blessed.

I wish you comfort and peace.

Sorry to hear of your loss

We are losing so many of that generation, the ones that understood what real sacrifice meant. It is a great loss for our nation.

Thank you from one veteran's family to another.

We lost my mother in law a month ago.

There are no words that are appropriate, other than:

          We're very sorry.

Each person and relationship is so unique that words cannot possibly convey the depth of emotion.

Our best to you, and thank you for your father's service.

AC I've done a lot of praying lately. When dad first went into the hospital I prayed that he would get better quickly and return home.

Yesterday when we heard that there was nothing more medically that could be done I prayed that he knew how much we loved him and I prayed that his suffering would end.

Today I pray that I can get through the overwhelming sadness.
