The last time I used a debit card for a car rental they put a hold on a portion of money to cover the car rental and a little extra. I think the hold amount varies by car rental company. I would call the one you are looking at to find out for sure what thier policy is.Appointment set with attorney for 08/28/2009

I used a debit card to rent a car at BWI a few months ago...I think it used Budget and they placed a $500 hold. lmao...luckily I always keep a few grand in my checking account at all times, or I would've been screwed. The information provided is not, and should not be considered legal advice. so. it sounds like they accept them as easily as credit card in most cases..and they withhold about the same.. i used a credit card with dollar rental and they withheld 400.. so it seems debit cards will work just fine..thanks all for the input.. i plan on dumping the credit cards soon and will be using nothing but debit cards from now on.....and my major concern was car rentals...
