It's a nice song "Me & Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul singer (1972).

Yep, that's the one. I still just see Dustin Hoffman in my mind when I hear the tune. I don't remember that much of the movie as I really am not THAT old!

Me and my husband played on a softball league and the back of his team shirt says: "Me and" and my shirt says "Mrs Jones". Kinda cute but his shirt makes no sense without me beside him...and the way it should be too!

I don't believe Billy Paul's song was part of The Graduate. I do know Billy was a One Hit Wonder.
Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

What's sad is that any of you who are Christians probably know that other 'Christians' these days try and make you believe that if you have all these things, you're 'blessed'. That's bologna. You're blessed when you can sit on a porch swing or go fishing and be happy with nothing material. These people called 'your family' are the ones that should come first and people just don't think that's important anymore. The time it takes to sit and talk with their children and spend time helping to mold who they become doesn't pay much, so people don't bother. Most of my kids friends are pretty much raising themselves....when the tv isn't doing it....how sad is that?

I don't wish anyone harm or for them to have hard times just because we were, but honestly when those huge new trucks used to pass us, I'd get a little jealous for a split second and feel a bit defeated because we couldn't afford that too....now alot of them are on the side of the road with a for sale sign. They couldn't afford it either.

I don't get proud or smirk or anything at that, I just think to myself that I hope they have family and friends around them and they're not lonely along with being broke.

Most of these parents around here don't know the first thing about their kids because they've been doing everything else in the world other than raising them. Guess that happens everywhere these days though. We were usually the house where the kids went to because I was always there.

The ones who I thought were the poorest family (us?) were the ones feeding everyone and keeping them out of trouble, how messed up was that? lol

I tend to get a little miffed when kids get the short end of the stick because of money, because that was ME and it was sad. I guess you can tell. lol

The Graduate's memorable song is "Mrs. Robinson."

The Jones are broke, I deliver their repo notices, past due notices and foreclosure notices on a daily basis.
They just haven't ran out of credit, yet.

This is the same thing my husband and I have said. If the bailout money would have been divided amongst the taxpayers ( I think it's like 58,000 per person) instead of given to the banks who gave the money to China or did who know what with it anyways we would not have had to file. So we took the bailout by filing instead.

Since filing, I've religiously started saving 10% right off the top when I get paid (you know, pay yourself first). Amazing how nice it feels to actually have SAVINGS? (huh, what's that, I haven't had that in at least 10 years!!!). I'm my own credit card.

It feels great, doesn't it? I consider myself my most important creditor, so every payday without fail I pay myself first. I also have payroll deductions for my retirement account but I don't even think of that money as savings, even though it IS.

I hear you. It is an adjustment. I hope I can do it! I've only done it my last two paychecks and it gets tough just before payday....tempted to hit the savings for more $$. I have to leave it alone, and make sure my spouse and I continually communicate about $$ .....

                              Every day is a challenge....
