    American made????

Just recently I had to buy another car. My old Betsy (22 years old) was facing major repairs and ready for the old folks home.
I've always bought Chryslers most of the 45 years I've been buying cars.
NOT THIS TIME. I bought American made, by American hands, helping keep an American person employed.
Chrysler just moved their "new car line" to MEXICO. Closed plants here, now they will re-open in Mexico.
It's time we supported American products that are still left......... before more disappear and more jobs disappear.

After WWI and Pearl Harbor, Japan said in the future they would take over the USA "without firing a single shot"......................... well Toyota has become the #1 selling auto maker on American soil.

THEIR OFF TOO A GOOD START!!!

    Just my thoughts,

      HRx,
You don't know "how I wish I could do that"..................
My favorite car was a 1966 Mustang convertible (new)......... LOVED IT........
Didn't get to keep it but 2 years, everybody side swiped it, run off the road up the driveway and hit it, etc.......
I even almost got killed in it on its way to the graveyard in 1969.
Betsy was a Chrysler Labaron 1987, and I also owned a 1988 Chrysler mini-van for 20 years. Both still on the road, but now owned by someone else who can do the repairs on them.
      But I still LOVE MUSTANGS..............

I had a '66 Mustang GT convertible we bought when I returned from overseas with the Army. Lots of fun. The wife wishes we had it now I am sure!
The Japanese have not taken over this country, but the Hispanics that are coming into this country daily over our southern borders are trying.

My first car was a '66 Mustang. Had it in highschool. All the boys were jealous.

Then my dad totaled it! Some weenie blindsided him, ran a red light. Must be a cursed year?

Loved that car, still have the "pony" from the front.

That is all that is left-sad.

I think Toyota is made in or near Lima Ohio. Just about the only American made car.

I love my VW German diesel. Of course, "assembled" in Mexico.

Look into any car or parts house, you will find the parts made here and there. What the hell is made in this Country besides bk Lawyers? Sickening. 'Hub

You might be surprised where your car or truck was made.
Many manufacturers have plants in Mexico.
Years ago I had a guy at a campsite that was bragging about his Dodge diesel being American all the way.
He was drunk and really upsetting me anyway.
I knew his truck was assembled in Mexico, at least that particular model. I walked him over to his new truck and pulled the build sheet from under his front seat that showed where it was build and what options and such were on it and it clearly showed it came from Mexico.
It sure shut the loud mouthed drunk up.
                You just never know.

                    Kenshirley,

I didn't read the articles, but suspect they are similar to what I read elsewhere.

It is virtually impossible to buy American these days.

Something like 60% of cars made in America are parts that are manufactured overseas and shipped in. No way to prevent this, since we simply do not have the factories to make these parts any more.

We do what we can, but in the end, it is a global economy. Short of a total isolationist policy, I don't see how we could (re)create the utopian ideal so many people seem to embrace. Not sure I am for that anyway.

Well I am driving the #1 car, according to the national news tonight anyway,
that is being purchased by folks on the clunker program.
It's a Toyota Corolla that we bought about 17 months ago now. Toyota sales of this little mileage gem has been some 600k per year for like the last 14 years or so.
American made? Partially I guess. It was assembled anyway at the old GM plant that used to make Chevy Novas amongst others I guess back in the day in Fremont, CA.
GM had shut that plant down.
At little history here though for folks that don't know. GM sponsored Toyota coming here and in fact owned part of them at one time anyway.
My father and his partner had a Fiat and Studebaker dealership. I can remember the day when I was about 14 I guess in 1963 when I sat there listening to two GM reps telling my father and his partner how good the Toyota Coronas, the Crowns and the Land Cruisers (jeeps at the time) were.
They also told them that Toyota had their backing. Believe it or not, but I was there.
Apparently some auto companies managed the plants in Japan until they got back on their feet after the war. Therein they developed relationships folks.
Ever hear if channeling money to offshore corporations to save tax money?
                      Facts, just facts.

I buy American made cars simply because they are good!

I look out for my best interests, not the unions or the lazy auto co. executives running the USA into the ground.

It just so happens American cars are good despite popular belief which is the only reason I will buy.

For the past 10 years quality wasn't really the issue with American made cars. The problem which is something that we all know too well is they spent more then they made and filed bk. That simple...

I bet they are sorry they ever did that.
