UNFORTUNATELY, there are still MANY FOLKS who don't know what "tightening the belt" means!!
1. Watch what your spending you money on. Keep track of all expenses (no matter how small for a week). You will be amazed at how much you WASTE.
2. Eating out is expensive, especially when its done every morning and nite. We still have KITCHENS in our homes, use them.
3. A 3 year old DOES NOT NEED shoes that cost $125.00 a pair (just because another kid has them).
4. New babies DO NOT NEED a closet full of newborn clothes. They also need some to grow into. Hand-me-down clothes or used clothing do not have tags on them saying "somebody else wore me before".......
5. Money is wasted on a new car. After you drive it off the lot - it's now USED. The only person it's new too is YOU.
6. Your children and teens DO NOT have to have the most expensive toys on the market. And especially a new one every time you go to the store.
7. How much was your last cell bill???? Text messaging is expensive unless you pay for a plan (high price) where it is included free (yeah, sure). Have you seen how much "text messaging" is costing you?
8. A "rented movie" solves two problems - saves money, brings family closer together. Try it sometime.
9. A day in the park is a lot cheaper than a day at Disneyland (for right now).
10. What happened to doing your own "nails, pedicures, and hair"? Is a $75.00 haircut a necessity? A $40.00+ nail job or pedicure?
11. Buying a soda out at $1-1.25 is like paying up too $30.00 a case for it instead of maybe $7.00 a case.
12. Is redecorating our homes every 2 years a PRIORITY in our lives?
All of us have THINGS we waste money on, we just really don't know how much that REALLY IS until we do a reality check on ourselves.
Tightening our belts is not doing without most things in life - its just plain ole using what money we do have WISELY (till life gets better).
During the HARD TIMES - do a reality check, tighten that belt where you can, and you can become a survivor during it all.
Unfortunately, there will STILL be some that THINK they have to have, or have to spend, or keep saying "I want" - no matter what it is. These are the folks that will really struggle, and possibly loose it all.
Too many folks live from paycheck to paycheck..... they don't even bother to think about what the future might bring, or if they lost their jobs.
HELLO FOLKS - IT'S A REAL WORLD OUT HERE - WITH LOTS OF PITFALLS ALONG THE PATHS.
My thoughts for the day,
Minny
