Cheap Fun ~ You may think going once a month is a bit much , but my youngest daughter who happpens to be autistic loves it, she can't get enough of shamu
Actually I don't feel too bad about the process. I was keeping the wife happy taking her where she wanted to go and it was taking a lot of money to to that. 4 nights at the Paradise Pier at Disneyland and 3 days in the park (or two of you like their version of what happened) was $1277!
That did not include food or incidentals of course while in the parks.
Vegas may be cheaper (they need the business bad according to my new neighbor who just moved from there) considering we don't gamble and it is closer.
As stated 40 years ago that's where the County Judge married us in his chambers.
We have not been in LV in some 22 years now. It will be interesting to see all the new sites anyway.

Have you and your wife ever thought of maybe getting re married ? I mean you are going back to where you first got married, what a way to create some new memories !! I think that would be nice ! You do not seem like a mush guy by any means but i think it would be sweet and it'll show your wife how much you love her !! awww You were already going to spend at lest $1,500. at disney, I'm almost sure you two won't spend half of that in Vegas.. any how, just a thought ... let me know what you think

We have actually already done that due to the law.
I was married before to another. Lots of problems, no kids for two years and we called it quits.
She was supposed to pick and and file the final divorce in Aug of '69. She did not do it. I had no knowledge and I was on my way to Germany with the Army so the current wife and I got married while I was on my way to insure military benefits and such overseas.
Believe it or not some 7 years later while working and going to school at night under VA benefits I got a letter stating that they would pay benefits for my daughter of some 4 years but not my wife! This after paying them while I was in the service no less!
It turns out that the original wife did not file that paperwork until Oct, after we were married and in the eyes of VA we were not married for $ purposes anyway. What a joke!
So we got remarried for nothing but the money~~~so to speak. We don't even know what date that was nor do we care. We do not recognize that ceremony. I could care less now about VA!

You'll do just fine in Vegas with a budget like that and not gambling. Maybe take in some shows or just see all the great stuff like the fountains at the Bellagio and the volcano at the Mirage. We spent three days there (no gambling) and found tons of stuff to see and do.

Rainmom, I love that idea, so cute! My DH and I are supposed to renew our vows in Vegas at the Drive-thru chapel later this year. I can't wait! I may pay extra to have an Elvis impersonator do the ceremony.

If you are only going for a day, then yeah it is way overpriced. I wouldn't pay $65 to go there for 1 day. We bought the season passes because Legoland is the best place on the planet according to my son lol He said it's way cooler than Disneyland. I prefer it over DL as well. We've gone 4 days so far so we've gotten our monies worth. Going down there next weekend as a matter of fact.

Vegas-my favorite place in the world!!!!! lol I try to make it down there 6-7 times a year. Last time I went I managed to gamble only about 30 minutes. And it was freeplay money so I didn't spend a dime of my own and actually made some off the freeplay. I stay away from Vegas during the summer though. It already gets 105 degrees where I live so why would I want to pay money to go somewhere else that's 105 degrees!!!

If we were closer I would get season passes too. My boys both loved Legoland and the aquarium.

Of all the times we've been there we've never went to the aquarium. My son doesn't want to leave Legoland lol Plus we have Monterey Bay up here so I'd imagine it doesn't quite compare.

I don't think any of the shows are really cheap.
But then again we have done so little and very rarely stay anywhere nice we need a treat for a change and this is a special occasion for us too.
The last time we really spent any big money was ten years ago for our 30th.
I surprised the wife and took her to HI.
I had made all the arrangements and only told her boss that she would be gone on a surprise vacation. Nobody knew but me until 2 days before we left where we were going. I had to give her some notice so she could bring her assistant up to speed on what needed to be done while she was gone for 2 weeks.
At that point I had been trying to get her to HI for 20 years and she always had an excuse as to why we could not go. This way she had no option in the matter. It was that or just waste the money.
She and I loved it and we even considered moving there at one point in early retirement but I think we would feel "island bound" if you know what I mean.
                        Expensive too.

When are you going? There's always deals to be had in Vegas, you just have to look for them! There was a summer that I was there often for work and I never did gamble. I signed up for the promotions email lists for some of the hotels and they send out some good discounts at times. There's also an AAA discount for most of them so if you're a member be sure to tell them. There's a little dive casino at the end of the strip that has good cheap food. We used to always go there on arrival and then after our sets for their steak specials.

Sounds like you're going to have a great celebration!

We will head up there the 7th or 8th of Sept as our anniversary is the 9th.
I have heard that mid week is best on the rates and I we just signed up for emails from the big casinos.
We will see what they offer.

It is if you are low on it!
Right now of course I am trying to recover the $1277 that Disney has. It appears that they canceled my transaction online for the final payment of $1077 the other day after they agreed to the refund though. It showed pending and then disappeared and the bank says they show no record of it now.
The $200 deposit I paid about 10 days ago may be another matter I suppose. But it appears I have the bulk of that money still anyway at this point.
We will go and see a couple of shows. The wife says if we say into the weekend that Bette Midler is going to be there and I would not mind seeing her.
We don't go to many shows either. They are a treat for us when we do. The best shows we ever saw was when Neil Diamond was in Phoenix about 3 years ago and we got front row seats. The next best was at Lake Tahoe many years ago. We went to see Karen and Richard Carpenter when they were popular and much to our surprise the Righteous Brothers opened their show and announced they had just gotten back together!
We will have fun regardless and it will be the first really fun thing we have done in close to or just over a year!
