Sorry to hear about your pup. Did the vet test for poisons? My Golden retriever had the same symptoms and it turned out he had a reaction to a pesticide that was sprayed by the gardner. He had seizures, lost weight, off his feed, and in a few days he was back to normal after his body filtered all the nasty stuff out.

The seizures scared the crap out of me. I didnt know our yard was going to be sprayed, I was very angry with the landlord for allowing toxic chemicals around my family and pets.

Hope you get some good news and your baby gets better.

You know DingDong while I was doing my research

on the net, since I dont trust anyone when it comes to my dog..lol
I did see that certain Herbicides do that...Also the same day this happened I had houseguests and she sprayed a ton of hairspray in my livingroom.. I took my dog outside when she did that (just a gut feeling). That night she had the seizure. I am going to talk to my manager and see if he can talk to the gardeners and find out what they are using.. Thanks for the heads up..

O My goodness. Gabby is a Shih Tzu just like our little furkid. Glad to hear she didn't have any tumors.

Our shih tzu has a severe skin problem and crystalization of the bladder. She is on 3 prescriptions a day and also prescription dog food for the rest of her life.

A Shih Tzu has a unique personality. Both of us have had different breeds of dogs in our life, but this furkid takes the cake LOL!

My cat had a seizure with his UTI. It was horrible and I thought he died. Then when I saw him breathing I rushed him to the animal hospital. It has to do with the potassium levels going nuts during the infection.

Also, what kind of flea control are you using? They're all poison, to kill fleas. That absorbs into your pet's system too. I have a spray bottle with a mixture of water and eucalyptus oil that I spray on my dog's legs before our walks. Fleas don't like Eucalyptus and will stay away. Avon's Skin So Soft bath oil works the same as it has cedar oil in it and that is also a natural repellent.

Well, I did. Every one of 'em. Mostly I remember the last one. The wild finish. A guy standing on a station platform in the rain with a comical look in his face because his insides have been kicked out. -Rick

What do you use for flea control with cats?

My little avatar there is very 'flea allergic'. She is also sensitive to the flea control preparations. I had been using Advantage fairly successfully, but it seems to be losing its power. So I am having to *bathe* her every now and then trying to help the situation. Needless to say I have to wear a full suit of long-sleeve sweats as body armor in the bath tub when I do this.

My cat is severely allergic to fleas and even though he never goes out, "we" humans bring fleas home in our shoes, pants, etc. The fleas are then thrilled to find an animal in the house.

I use Revolution on my cat. It was recommended by our vet and you need a vet prescription for it. It is very effective and in my opinion, has far less side effects than Advantage or Frontline. After an Advantage or Frontline treatment my cat would jump, run erratically, and drool for at least an hour -- all known reactions to the chemicals. With Revolution he has none of those reactions.

I'm using the Skin So Soft bath oil on the kitties. Just a little drop on the back of the neck for both of them and then give them a good petting session. I do this every few days as the smell wears off.

MUCH better than trying to give one of them a bath! Also, you can pick up boric acid for $1. Sprinkle that very lightly on the carpets and vacuum it up. Same for the furniture. Put some behind your appliances and windowsills too. I do that once a week and then spray my eucalyptus and water solution on all of the carpets and furniture and especially around the doors. Keeps the buggars out and smells really good too!

I've got some war wounds from my one kitty who has always been a little sickly from trying to give him a cranberry supplement the other night. This before I figured out that I could boil down some chicken livers and let the supplement melt into it. We live and learn....

I've got some really sad news. Gabby had another small seizure on Sunday morning..This morning I got an apt with another vet.. felt I needed another opinion. This man wanted to do a chest xray. Gabby has this aweful cough after the MRI which really scared me..
The dr. then came back and gave me the aweful news. Gabs has phenomia and lung cancer. I'm still in shock..He said its mascirated or something like that and she has about 2-3 days to live.. I then got an emergency apt with an Ongologist and 3 hours later got the same news. She may have a couple of weeks.. I had the option for chemo and radiation but that will only extend her life maybe a month or so...Its not worth the trauma for her or me to go thru that. I'm going to make her as comfortable as possible and when she starts showing me that shes in pain...I'll know its time. I'm so very sad you guys...I'm losing my best friend in the world. Life sucks so bad and she is my light...I'll miss her sooooo very much. A friend of mine brought her a rotessier chicken and she loved it...no skin just the white meat with no seasoning.

As far as the flea control shes been on Advantage and yes it is poison...I get into it with her Vet and I tell you you wait and see...Someday soon everyone will know its killing our animals. Of course it gets into their bloodstream...

So sorry to read this. You are in our thoughts and prayers. You are doing the right thing for your dog. When your puppy stops eating it will be the right time.

Please know that dogs do not fear death as so many humans fear it. Your dog may be suffering physically but not in any way emotionally.

I am so very, very sorry. I know how it is when we sometimes feel closer to our pets than to our own families.

You will know when it is time. Between now and then just keep loving and spoiling Gabby. My thoughts are with you and your furbaby.

Thanks everyone...yesterday Gabby had sooo many of her human friends come to my salon and love on her. She had a really good day...even barks when the doorbell rings..Its so hard to believe she is so sick..she even ran home after her peepee break..I told her to slow down, don't you know your sick?? lol....
Today is another good day she is eating her chicken and kissing my tears from my face...
My plans are to have either her vet or another vet come to my home when its time..I will have a few of her really good friends here for her and me...
Then after its over I'm having a party in her honor and everyone in my apartment complex is invited for that...My manager told me last night that everyone in my building wants to me there for me...so sweet..
But I really only want people there that she really knows and loves..at least I have a plan when shes ready...
