And let me add this, whats going to be gained by this article? How not to do it? Is that how they teach school, how not to do things? NO

Why not someone have the balls to write an article on Billy Mays, something people can follow and possibly gain from. Oh, thats right the tabloids would go under and we'd have nothing to read and repost about.

Six celebrities passed away recently, lets focus on the worst one. Yea you're kind of right, our country is and has been this, but there is no becoming nothing, we've been there for as long as I can remember. Where have you been.

I can't argue your point. When did you ever see a newspaper with a headline like, "What a wonderful day today is". Ain't gonna happen.

What worries me is, the populous of this Country can name you the last ten winners on American Idol, but cannot name the 16th president of the United States.

I did not read the same meaning the author was attempting to say, as you did. I saw it as a surface connotation of what seems to be so important to the "masses" in that this so called "star" has passed, yet Farrah Faucet Majors passed the same day and very little attention paid to her. Our Government is about to kill the free market with Cap and Trade that will tax every citizen in this Country (and the poor too) yet there is no real concern for that. It is poor Michael Jackson and his poor 50 year old emaciated, defaced, scalpel deformed body and drug laden blood, and his white gloved crotch holding hand that we celebrate his passing. Billy Mays passed of natural causes and was a hard working fine family man.

The values of the populous is my point. We no longer have any. Only my opinion. 'Hub

Aren't there like 3 billion people that never even met MJ at Neverland this week?
Ed McMan, Farah Faucet, Billy Mays and all of the other recent ever so famous gods who died, get nothing while Jackson gets everything. I am sorry but he was the weirdest of all weirdos. Misunderstood? Maybe and maybe not.

He loved to give the children cookies and milk before bed, then read the children bed time stories, while they sleep in his bed, just the boy children 12 and under that is.

Is this what our Country is becoming?
They threw money at him for the same reason that the federal government throws money at entities like CitiBank: the desperate hope that some miracle will allow debt servicing to resume. Michael could burn through $50-million in half a year. It didn't seem to affect his credibility as a borrower. When his heart stopped last week, he was living in a Hollywood mansion that rented for several hundred thousand dollars a month. You wonder how the landlord cashed those checks.
They could pay off the countries debt. Jackson could whip through millions of dollars creating debt each year just because of who he was, not that he could actually pay it all back.

Get the best deals for Michael Jackson at eBay.com. We have a great online selection at the lowest prices with Fast & Free shipping on many items!

there will be tons of movies made about the freaky in the mirror and People will make billions and trillions off of Jacksons death. He might be worth more dead than alive.

And here's my philosophical summary of the whole thing...

It was your choice to waste 3 minutes reading 40+ postings, just as it was mine to read yours and post yet again.

So too is the choice of millions who have treated and will undoubtedly continue to treat Michael Jackson as a legend.

The funniest thing -- okay not so funny -- was last Thursday when CNN couldn't decide itself what was more newsworthy... the voters being killed and beaten in Iran, or Michael Jackson going to the hospital. They had it split screen.

That defines us. That defines our culture.

Driving to work yesterday, about 60, at least, media vans with satelite dishes on top sped by me to Neverland.

One of my employers is a few minutes away.

They expect about 20,000 + extra people in the valley because of the Neverland issue.

It is a frenzy in the valley right now cuz of MJ.

He is helping to stimulate our local economy, work is going to be busy

The local hotels are benefitting and other hospitality areas.

                    HMMMMM?

Actually, I was more interested to see what Hub & Bandit had to say.... They make me laugh. If something about MJ comes on I just turn the channel.

I work in the hotel business and it is being hit hard in this economy just like so many other businesses. Enjoy the business while you can Santa Barbara County. I've been to Neverland Ranch - amazing. I love that part of California.

Yeah, we need the help. Luckily, we have the wineries, which helps bring people over.

Get drunk for 20.00 in winetasting fees, cheap vacation with a buzz, plus not too far from LA and a getaway from the concrete and cars.

The property I work at has a 95.00 mid week special, and it is a very nice place. So for 300.00 you could have a couple nights at a pleasant spot and taste some great wine and eat on the cheap . You get breakfast with the room and a wine/cheese hour, so basically just lunch and dinner for two days, ( you could do a nice picnic) and mini vacation. Plus gas.

Pretty good deal for 3 days away from the LA smog. It is very pretty up here, rolling hills and vineyards and the beach is within 1/2 hour drive.

I doubt most of the kids could tell you how to, when to, where to or why we plant a kernel of corn. Yet they do know how to punch buttons and send nude pics of each other over the internet phone.

My friends kid is diagnosed with ADD but I have to question that because he somehow is quite capable of learning and playing video games non stopped for 13 hours straight, watching and knowing what is on TV at all hours of the day or night and I find it odd that he can focus on numerous things he likes to do, but when you ask him to do something he does not like, say, help out with the garbage to the curb or finish up any homework, he somehow can't focus on what that means and ADD starts.

Someone merged two threads. The one from Hub was not Jackson or his death specifics, rather using that as an example in a completely different topic.

Just read this and I know it is a couple days old, but: ADD (in my opinion) is an invented anomaly. When I was a kid, I was bored in school. When bored, you 'cut up'. It is called, being a kid. I had terrible grades, but remember everything I was taught. I could not pass tests, but I know History, Geography, math, proper English (not spelling I can't spell), and science. Today, that stuff is not offered and math is replaced by calculators.

ADD is an excuse to dope the kids into mass control for the teacher's benefit. When a student in my class disrupted the class, he got swatted with a big paddle in the principal's office. Better yet, I remember getting snapped on the head with a ruler one time. There is no excuse for doping our kids, then when they become teenagers we are surprised when they hit our medicine chests for our Valium, perkocets, Oxycodone, and other junk medicine or worse street drugs.

My children got home from school everyday on time, when they came in their first job was homework. If they stated they had none, they were told to read the next chapter of whatever book they brought home for tomorrow's class. Then they went out to play. My eyes were NEVER off of them. I never had either daughter tell me a lie. Not one in their life.

(A private story here): When my youngest was almost eighteen, I could read the signs. I asked her to sit down on the couch. My wife (not Mrs. C) did not know what I was about to do. I asked her "have you become sexually active"? As her freckled face and red hair took a pale air of total panic, she said "yes Dad". I simply said to her, "Honey, it is a habit once started, is not stopped soon. You understand the dangers and consequences if you are not careful don't you? She said "yes Dad". I simply said "good" and walked out of the room. Later, she hugged me. That was all and was never mentioned again. She has two wonderful son's. Both within wedlock. I am fortunate. God has been kind to me and I did not spare the rod when needed. It paid off. 'Hub
