    WIFI Router

    Hi guys/gals,

I have a house were I have 5 computers (WIFI) and a xbox360 (Ethernet Cable connected) to my old linksys router. Sometimes the router freezes when all the computer in the house are turn on. I researched on the different types of routers out in the market and im getting a lot of mixed reviews...

Can anyone recommend from there own experience the best type of router with my setup I currently have? Thanks!

Any "new" linksys or d-link router would be fine. Your router may just be unable to handle the number of packets (especially with things like Xbox360, Xbox Live and perhaps Media Center running too). The Router could also be defective and locks up when it gets warm (which occurs when it gets "busy").

You don't even need to spend a lot on a new router. Just go get a new one, of the same brand, or even d-Link. I have a mixture of d-Link and Linksys routers all over this house. I think I have 8 of them in my house! (Yes, eight of them.)

A factory reset may also bring that old router back to life. I had a similar issue with my router dropping the wifi. Did a factory rest and has worked fine ever since.

How fast is your internet? Real speed versus advertised? Your problem might be the internet is getting overloaded.
