Sell a car to pay my bills?

I have $16.00 in my checking account. My husband also has a stupid sports car worth about $4000. Can we sell it to pay our bills. We will be filing in 2 months. Can they say anything if we just start selling our stuff to eat?

You are allowed to sell your stuff. Just not to family for less than market value.
It is easier for you in your filing if you sell it to someone you do not know.

Uggh, I did the same thing. Sold my 2006 paid for Vette, my 2005 paid for F250, and a couple of nice bikes to try to save my house, still ended up losing it.

Selling to family for market value is okay and does not make filing any harder.

Anything less than market value and it looks like you are trying to transfer assets fraudulently.
