My wife and I are both retired federal employees.
I was wondering when and if the stimulus bill that was passed was going to reduce our tax withholding for federal income taxes so I wrote an email to the Office of Personnel Management Retiree Section.
For those interested this is what I got back~
"IRS has stated they will not adjust the tax withholding tables for annuitants. Our annuitants will not see any change in their annuities based on the stimulus. They will need to file for the relief when they file their taxes for
2009"
I am not sure why they did this but I thought many might like to know.
