Florida. Its sad to see so many who, like us are over 50. We have always had great credit and used it very sparingly. Our road to BK was the result of a business/partnership that did not work out, a commercial lease and a crooked landlord. We never even considered BK (honestly didn't know anything about it to even think of it as an option until a couple of months before we filed). We just did as we always had done and literally did everything in our power to pay all that we owed.
If we had known and "planned" our BK, we definitely would have done it sooner, as we now have a HELOC that we used to pay off some credit cards -discharged, yes - but the lien of course remains. If we'd had the luxury of planning our BK for a few months or even a year as some do, obviously we would not have done that!
But we are relieved to have it done and be able to have somewhat of a fresh start!
